OK .... We're not really used to routinely tipping .... My OH and I have, in the past, always tipped by the week at the end of the week. From reading the forums, daily would be better. How much daily or per round and should we use American dollars or pesos? If so, how much???
tipping even a dollar help them, they rely on our tips. We always leave atleast 2 - 5 dollar tip depending on the service (mainly service is great), tipping daily rather than at the end of the week is just a physiological thing in my opinion if some one serve you and you dont tip them right away that means that you just did not tip them and it might effect or do not effect when they take your order next time but if you even tip a dollar they will always remember you in my opinion. It is also said that tipping in pesos bcuz they lose in the exchange rate. But tip is tip and we all should tip what ever we can afford, if we can afford the trip than I am sure we can afford few more pennies to appreciate their hard work :xyxthumbs:
It makes no sense to me for a European or a Canadian to buy US$ to tip a Mexican so they can go convert it into pesos.
Agreed. Why convert everything twice. If we tip in pesos the banks make a little less and the people who deserve it keep a little more.
We tip $20 pesos per round. Not every exchange will give you denominations you want though. Finally found $20 pesos notes at Co-op! $20 pesos works out at just under £1 and is a bit over $1 US dollar.
We have always used pesos due to exchange rate and one of the bar staff said they all preferred pesos due to previous comments etc . We usually tip 50 pesos at breakfast and give 100 every other night . The staff work very hard and make a pitiful wage so they really look after you . One bfast waiter took us to meet his family and I can only say when we saw where they lived it made us feel very humble .
Doing our first trip in Jan...where's the easiest place to convert to Pesos? I've been throwing a few US dollars here and there into a shoe box to bring for tipping but if it works out better for the staff i'll get pesos.
I tip heavy (like 20s US to each) day 1 and 2 to the people that I know I will see all week (Breakfast waiter, maid, lunch restaurant, and sexy pool bartenders). At night I tip small amounts each round or so, because it its busy and it is typically not the same bartender each round. Then later in the week I will tip here and there, and some people that have really went above get hooked up again. I do like pesos because they are waterproof. The only issue is after real drunk, I get confused with the conversion in my head. IMO tipping in the beginning helps set bar, and gets the best service. Even though everyone is great and you would get great service anyway.
