When I was a kid (well 18 or 19) I watched a documentary on the TV about 'the best 10 beaches in the world', and Cancun was something like No.3 at the time. To me, Cancun and those other places on this list seemed like beautiful dreams I'd never get to see. However, in 2011 somebody else I knew had decided to go to Cancun for a holiday, and I jumped at the chance to go...I'm still thinking about organising a trip to Thailand too to see that beach too, but after the first visit, Cancun is all I can think about! I guess what my question is that although this will be our second trip, we didn't venture out of the resort much last time. We went to Xel-Ha, which although was ok was a bit of a disaster because I was still feeling the effects of the booze from the day before. I completely fell in love with the beach at Isla Mujeres when we ventured over there on the ferry, and next trip I'm planning a day to go down to the main strip where the 'good' beach is in Cancun as well. Basically, I would like opinions on whether I'm 'missing a trick' for booking TTR again...I want to come back because our last trip 2 weeks in Jan just wasn't enough and I wanted more! Does everyone feel the same after visiting TTR?
Yes !!!!!!!! My wife and I never had a real honeymoon and ventured to TTR when it was Blue Bay Getaway!!!!! Ten trips later and we keep going back!!!! The weather and beaches can be found all over the place but we have met the most amazing people every time we go and have made some lifelong friends!!!! That's what keeps us coming back
We went to TTR because well... The wife wanted a vacation... And she was buying... I never in the world expected her to pick an adults only, topless optional vacation place... So I was shocked and impressed... What's going to bring us back? Most importantly, the people. By far some of the best people we've ever met, and we miss them terribly already. Then... The resort & its staff.. I used to travel a lot for work... So I've stayed in hotels all over the US... Cheap places, expensive places, cities, suburbs, you name it. TTR HANDS DOWN had the best staff of any place I've ever stayed. TTR is an escape. Its an escape from reality. Its where you can absolutely be yourself without judgement, and everybody else around you can do the same. I don't think I've ever heard of so many people returning to the same resort 5, 10, and even 15 times they like it so much!!
For us the search was looking for a kids free place to relax and have fun. We settled on what was then called Blue Bay Getaway (See James there are more than a few of us BBG folks around) as our post tax season getaway. The idea of a top optional resort was just kind of a bonus. The resort was a physical standpoint was okay, but the crowd there was just so different than anyplace we have ever ventured before. The relaxed non-judgmental group there was one that we just fell in love with. We have made friends there that we still are in touch with after six years. BBG or TTR isn't really a resort. It's more a state of mind.
for us it was a spur of the moment decision. we never looked at TTR befor our friends suggested we go with them. well to sum it all up in a nut shell we had a blast, the people we met was top notch, fun and friendly, not one issue came up between any of the people we met. and to have a bunch of people just meet up and drink for a week straight and not have a single issues just shows the character of the type of people who go here, . it was like we've known them our whole life. not once did we feel out of place or not welcome, the staff was friendly and helpful, we are already looking into booking another trip in April/Sept.
Our check list: Short flight - 2 hours Check All inclusive- Check Adult only - check Topless option - Bonus! Great Staff- Check Amazing people from all over - Bonus! So glad we picked TTR, we will be long term repeaters
I was searching for resorts in Cancun and the whole idea of a non judgmental resort sounded like the perfect place for us. So I showed it to him and said, "I think this is the place for us." So happy I made that decision... I think the main thing that will bring me back, aside from the amazing friends we made, is the confidence boost TTR gave me. I'm normally super selfconcious but now I have a new found confidence to be myself and I think repeated trips will help me maintain that/boost it even more. Seems kinda silly to say that I'm a changed person from a week of vacation but I truly am. Plus it brought our relationship back to how it felt in the beginning. It's like we're back to dating again, butterflies included. :liebe011:
I can't like that post enough... Its totally true... Its like we are dating all over again. (And she keeps making fun of me for it :icon_redface I mean hell people... I wrote her poetry & read it to her on the beach! I've NEVER done ANYTHING like that IN MY LIFE... :aktion014: Something about TTR and its effect on us made me able to finally put into words what i've been feeling for 4 years now...
