The latest TTR newsletter details "Summer Fest" with guest name DJs in July. Not my taste in Tuneage but Kudos to Ents staff, Marketing Dept and Management. Ideas like this are a step in the right direction. Some past examples are the 'Foodie Fest' and Halloween Weekend whereby guests are having a valu-added vacation. I strongly encourage more 'outta the box' Event/Ideas to further separate Mecca from all the 'Fred and Ethyl' Coco Coma Resorts out there. And maybe, just maybe, one day there will be a 'TTR Jazz and Blues Festival' and my repeated campaigning will have been worth it.
We were there last year for the first Summerfest, they brought in a guest dj,she was the hottest DJ in Cancun they said, though to us she pretty much played the same songs as always. The live band on Tuesday we thoroughly enjoyed, they played songs from the 80s we actually knew LOL. I agree events like this help change things up a bit which is good, different genres of music would really help appealing to all age groups and music tastes instead of the same song list played every night, every year. We are going back again this July for Summerfest, we did have a great time last July
One post will complain about the band the next about the DJ, ( or praise same idea) , I think we all agree Variety is good to please all people. The worst thing is to have the same thing/playlist every night . After 2 weeks in Jamaica 10 years ago , I still gag every time I hear Buffalo soldier . Special events are good , cause it brings something different into the equation .
Summerfest seemed to be more a marketing promotion than anything, changed Mr and Mrs Temptation to Mr and Mrs Summerfest, had the guest DJ, and they did a great poolside BBQ on Friday. We loved it enough to return this July.
