TTR First Timer Report May 3-10

:typing: I originally found Temptation looking for an adult only all-inclusive resort in Cancun that had an overall good rating. Looking at TTR a little closer, I found that it had some great reviews. Like other review sites it is hard to tell if the reviews are real or generated to build the hype. I soon discovered Cancuncare shortly afterwards and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed at all! As TTR virgins, we had a great time and plan on coming back! We are addicted!

From some of the other threads here, I thought I would highlight a few areas and our experience to share with others that might be going and what to possibly expect. Here goes…

    The bad… the flight :icon_evil:

The flight was the worst part of the trip – meaning the time it took and the long lay overs… and that was about it for the bad! I do have one more but I will save that to the end.

Tip - http://www.seatguru.com you can find the best seat to sit in on whatever aircraft you are flying in.

    Transport to TTR…

You can either get a transfer or you can get a taxi. A transfer might cost you about $20USD however it takes you to from the airport and TTR is one of the last stops it makes so if time is a factor this might be an issue. A taxi will set you back $65USD there and $28 back to the airport. Not sure of the difference but that is what it cost.

Tip – This tip is in conjunction with checking in. Have a swim suit ready in your bag to change into if you get there before 3PM check-in. You will get your bracelet and you can start drinking until your rom is ready. In our case our room was ready and we checked in before 1PM.

    Rooms…

I booked our trip through bookit.com and booked an ocean view room in my request I asked for a king bed. When I got the room it was two doubles and the ocean view was there if you bent over the railing. I went down to the desk to ask about a king and they found one for us the next day just a few doors down. I found out that a request made through any other location or travel agent other than TTR itself is just a request and doesn’t guaranty you what you want. I do have to express that they came trough and got us a king which was great!

Tip - Location, location, location! You might have heard this with real estate but it is also true at TTR. We had a room overlooking the Quiet Pool. Trust me that this is where you want to be if when you sleep you would like it to be quiet.

    Time Share and the concierge…

For TTR the concierge is basically the Premiere Resorts time share people that want to have you come for a 3-4 hour presentation. I have to admit that TTR is a great place however I met people that have been going there year after year and don’t have a time share.
Tip – I politely told them that I was here to drink and have fun and unless they were going to modify my trip by changing my flight and giving me another day at the resort I wasn’t interested. Needless to say I didn’t get asked again.

    The Food…

Food – Not that it wasn’t good, it just wasn’t that great. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star restaurant but maybe just a little more, again not a big issue at all. The best meal I thought I had was the blackened fish at Margaritas, second was at the Asian restaurant which everyone had a great meal.
We went out to dinner one night and for the life of me I can’t remember the name of it but it was down the strip within walking distance of Senior Frogs. It was a tan and white building and it had two metal people sculptures on benches out front. It was hands down the best authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant I have ever been in and the Cadillac margaritas were excellent and our waiter gave us 2 to go!

Tip – make reservations for the Asian and Italian restaurant early (up to 3 days in advance) or you can forget going. Also there is a dress code for these – no sandals, no t-shirts and you need pants guys! However… when we were there a few did come in that had a t-shirt on or that was wearing sandals with pants so I am not sure how enforced it really is.

The okay to good… the drinks :ernaehrung005:

Not to be too critical but the drinks were just okay. It was booze and I never had one drink that I thought was weak as some people have reported. Most, if not all of them were on the side of strong. I like Mojitos and when I got there I heard they ran out of mint, well they got more but I figured out pretty quick why they ran out… they use way to much! I thought I was having a salad instead of a drink. Some of the mixers were more on the sweet side. I like vodka and cranberry which is a great basic drink however the cranberry was horrible and left your mouth red like Kool-Aid.

Tip – before you leave to go to TTR, buy a cooler mug! The bartenders will fill it up for you so you don’t have to go up for refills every 10 minutes. Get one that will at least hold 24oz. Also ask… if you want a Gin and Tonic you will get a Gin and Tonic, if you want a Beefeater and Tonic you will get that, but you have to ask for the name brand.

    Towels, pool and the sun…

If you are planning on sitting at the sexy pool, plan on getting up around 530am-6AM to put a towel down or mark your spot. If you come down any a later you can pretty much forget it. A plus would be to get one with an umbrella since the mid-day sun gets pretty harsh.

Tip – Sunscreen… buy it were you live not in Cancun! We paid $28 USD for a spray can of spf50, yes you got that right, $28! I saw it for the same price everywhere else too and yes this is the same stuff you can get at any local Bartells for about $7. Trust me, you want to use sun screen and get a good one, don’t be cheap here and invest in a good product. Tanning before you go will help to – a lot! There is also a staff member that is there (forgot her name) that comes out and tells you about products, she knows her stuff.

    The games and activities…

All the games and activities we watched were pretty fun and worth (at least watching). Now being a participant takes a lot of alcohol… trust me here just drink a lot before you volunteer or sign up! You will have fun!

Tip – Drink and play or drink and watch it’s fun either way!

    Theme Nights…

lingerie Night, Gals you can wear pretty much anything you are comfortable in, guys you can wear boxers. White night, wear white to easy and show off you tan! I saw a few in Kilts and school girl outfits but again, only a few so I am not sure how big of a hit that was.

    Tours…

Maybe the only regret was not going on one of the booze cruises… I say maybe only because we had a lot of fun elsewhere so it didn’t matter that much. Before we came to TTR we thought about going to some ruins or doing some tour but we were having too much fun at TTR to think about it.

Tip – the Booze Boobs Cruise – I heard it was a blast and we will go on it next time!

    The staff…

All the staff that I talked with or encountered was great and it is simple as that! No issues.

Tip – The only tip I have here is to TIP! TIP heavy and you will be rewarded. If you go up to the bar 10 times or go and get something to eat without dropping a few singles, don’t expect the best service. We brought $100 in ones and used them all and it was well worth it!

    Security

This was our first time at TTR and I didn’t see any issues with security. I saw then once talking to one of the peddlers on the beach but that was about it. I really can’t say what is missing but by other accounts I have read it seems that security was asked for, meaning more or tighter and now that there is more people don’t like it, I think it will balance out.

    Orange Bracelets…

So my understanding was that the orange bracelets were to help identify people here in the forum, kind of an icebreaker so to speak. I also heard after I got there that it was more of a swingers ID and not the later. Some of the other people I talked to had other guesses. I guess it meant something different to everyone so I am not sure if we missed out or were left out??

Tip - Still need to find out but I think everyone has their own idea...

Water / Hydration and feeling bad…

More of a tip than anything - Drinking all day and night and being out in the sun is a sure fire way to stay dehydrated. They put a huge bottle of water in room so drink up! I think that this is the main reason for a lot of people not feeling well or getting sick not because of the food. Not that I’m a fitness guru but I do know that drinking all day out in the sun and drinking more into the night combined with different foods and lack of sleep will have its toll!

Overall and the people and a few other things…

Overall we had one of the best vacations to TTR and yes… we will be coming back again! Everyone we met was great! Our only regret was that we didn’t mingle maybe enough! Whether you are single or married I think everyone was having a great time. :daveandmo:
I read on a few other review sites that some people were commenting on being approached by other couples or women being hit on by other women. :3some: I would have to say we saw that a few times but we didn’t really experience it. If this is a worry of anyone’s… don’t let it be.

    The really only bad thing…

Having to wait to go back to TTR! I’m looking forward to planning the next trip already! Next year seems far away at this point!
