Trying to figure out if this is the right place for us?

My wife and I are in our early 30's with two kids. We try and get away overnight without kids 5-6 times a year for a night or two at a time. Last year we took our first big vacation without kids, going to Las Vegas for 5 nights. I was looking for the next trip and stumbled across Temptation Resort on TripAdvisor.

I've read a lot of reviews and threads on here but thought it would be easier just to post our on thread and get personalized advice

When we are able to get away without kids we try and leave out all the stops, stay at 4/5 star hotels (with comfy beds!), go to great restaurants, drink good liquor, etc. We also really appreciate good customer service. From what I've read on review sites the food, drinks and customer service are all very good. The reviews also said the hotel itself left a lot to be desired but if the remodel is anything like what the pictures look like on their website, that won't be the case anymore. If women weren't allowed to go topless, would you still go here? We went to a popular resort in the Dominican Republic, food was mediocre, I don't think the had top shelf liquor if I remember correctly, the rooms were just ok, and the entertainment was not good. I ended up pretty bored because all we could really do was sit on the beach.

...and now all the topless stuff:
In Las Vegas we ended up up going to a top-tional party pool/day club on all 3 of the pool days. It was our first time going to anything like this and had no idea what to expect. My wife bought a handful of sexy bathing suits, smaller tops and brazilian style bottoms, so she fit right in with the crowd that was probably 60-70% younger and 25-35% at least 10 years older than us, probably 60% guys to 40% girls. The first day was kind of a weird vibe because no one really took their tops off (maybe 40% participation by the end of the day) until later in the day and by that time it was a complete shit show in there. We weren't really drunk and acting crazy like everyone else, so she wasn't feeling going topless for the first time. The second day at one point there was over 50 guys in the pool and only 6 women (2 topless), so she didn't feel comfortable on that day either. Day 3 was much better, we paid ($400 drink minimum) to be in a VIP section with a separate pool that overlooked the main pool. The crowd that day was very well mixed, probably more females and a lot of the tops started coming off early (probably 50% participation this day but nearly 100% in our pool) in the day before things started getting really, including my wife's. She was topless throughout the day, most of the time in front of a glass side of the pool that overlooked the other pool but would put the top back on when she was going to the bathroom or grabbing a bite to eat. I thought she seemed very confident and she looked amazing IMO. She has told me now months later that she didn't feel all that comfortable because guys were staring/gawking. We did have a lot of fun at the pool though, which is why we went all three days. Good entertainment, waitresses always made sure a drink in hand, fun environment, etc. I like to party, she likes to be at the beach or in the pool, so we found the perfect happy medium.

We have gone to clubs in the city, Halloween parties, etc. where she has dressed very sexy but we have no idea what to expect at the night club at Temptation. Are people topless here, too? Is it more of a swingers club? None of this stuff really bothers us, just don't know what to expect.

I also read about the Boobs Cruise which seems like a blast but that would be really stretching our comfort zone as we have never been around people going fully nude and having sex in public. I think it would be a blast but we have never been in that type of atmosphere before, so we wouldn't want to be the bumps on the log.

My wife is initially down on the idea of going to Temptation because although she isn't necessarily going to keep the top on, she doesn't want to feel pressure going topless from me or anyone else (I asked her to in Vegas, so she did, but in hind site I feel like I shouldn't have asked, it was her first time and I should have let her do it on her own). She also doesn't want to be gawked at, have her picture taken, unwanted touching, etc. Temptation seems to have a different vibe than Vegas but if she wasn't comfortable going topless, would she feel out of place? Looking for an all inclusive resort that is more fun than just sitting by the pool/beach all day.

 

She won't be uncomfortable or pressured with or without her top at the resort. Boobs Cruise there is pressure to be topless but it's worth it. Crowd is amazing! Join the group that will be going the same dates. Get Cancun care bracelets so it's easier to spot each other. There are swingers but they're respectful. They may ask but are not pushy. Just relax and have fun...that's the whole vibe.

So I think I can pretty much tell you are talking about Bare at the Mirage Las Vegas? If so we followed a similar path. The Mrs going topless some days. Not some others. For the same reasons as your Mrs. Our next step was Temptations. There was no pressure for her to take her top off. Many had their tops off. No one seemed to be gawking or making a big deal of it. Made her feel comfortable and the top was off in an hour. Now in several trips since she has graduated to thongs and now we even go naked at Desire. But all at her speed doing simply what feels right. That being the main point. It really is a live and let live type of place where you can do what you are comfortable with without judgement. Now yes occasionally there are gawkers. It happens. But no more than what you experienced at Bare. Likely less.

The greater concern i have from your post is people don't go to TTR for the food or rooms or facilities. With the renos I think it has a chance to bump up to 4 stars but the 4/5 star resort has not traditionally been what they are going for. Only time will tell where it falls post renovations.

Topless in the evening is not allowed...limits are pushed but technically not allowed. Can get away with pasties though.

Every BC is different for nudity and PDA. It isn't an orgy or even close to it but PDA can and does happen. Regardless you won't be a bump on a log as everyone is respectful to what you are comfortable with. Women are encouraged to take their tops off and are not made uncomfortable if they choose not to. Simply put it is the best damn party anywhere!

No need to worry about being gawked at, it may happen occasionally but not a normal thing. There is no pressure to go topless. Pictures are a big bone of contention for a lot of people and random pic taking is not allowed at the pool. It does happen but TTR people are self policing and security is on top of it. You can take pics of yourselves or your group as long as you are respectful to those around you and don't include them with out asking first. Be aware of those in the background of your pics and try to avoid that. Plenty of places to take pics without worrying about who is in the background. Pool side games are fun to say the the least and may wind up with nudity. Participate in the games as they can be hilarious...you may even surprise yourselves over how much you let your hair down during them. You won't be bored at all.

The people, staff and service at TTR are top notch! We have made life long friends there. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed and get involved in this forum...you will have friends before you go. I could go on and on but it seems I already have, lol.

We can only agree with what has been posted above, in our opinion the food and service at the old TTR is excellent so we hope and anticipate that the new resort will at least be of a similar standard if not improved.

The first time my wife and I visited we had reservations based on inaccurate reviews that we had read online, you will not be pressurised into doing anything that either of you are unhappy with.

The vast majority of TTR guests are very, very respectful of other people's boundaries and I would say that although the occasional d**khead may be encountered it's far less than you would have to deal with in any other resort that hands out unlimited booze.

We've made some great friends and would recommend to anyone who likes a party and is reasonably open minded.

Both of us are quite a bit north of our early 30's, Tempation is a place where age, looks and fears doesn't matter. We have been to TTR twice and been on 4 Boobs Cruises. Each trip and cruise was different and that is what makes it fun and exciting. You will hear through these forums "it's the people not the place" this is one of the few places we have been that the young, old, the pretty and not so all seem to get along and have way more fun than should be allowed to. You will have your group's just say hello and you may just have met your new best lifetime friends. We are not lifestyle people but hang with many who are they are some of the nicest people we have ever made friends with. At TTR the pressure about removing your top will be only in your own head, on the Boobs Cruise there is more pressure to do so, it is called a Boobs Cruise for a reason, but on each one there were some tops on and many with nothing on. You need to go on at least one to make your own opinions on about the BC. On our first trip to TTR the mrs. Said ok but there is no way I will ever go toppless, that didn't make it 24 hours after landing there. Me on the other hand don't say to me I bet you will not wear or put this on because I will say hold my beer and watch this. We have 2 kids early 30's and there like MOM DAD really, we said to our daughter it's ok for you to walk around in body paint all weekend at a bikers event some day you too will enjoy Tempation, so you want to see some more pictures. LOL. The resort was ok and will only be better after it reopens but many including us will miss certain things about the old TTR, time will tell. Cancuncare site will be of great help planning your trip and if you hang around the forums you can't help to make friends with someone who will be there the same time as you.

The nice thing about TTR is that it isn't the Vegas pool scene. In our experience, TTR is mostly couples running the spectrum of age and body types. I would never have thought my wife would be comfortable topless, but she was in our visits to TTR.

At the old TTR the vibe and party were always good and welcoming but the food and facilities were just OK. We certainly hope the remodel preserves the good while giving it the necessary update it needs.

 

There is zero pressure. Just people having fun. You'll find your niche and it will evolve as you get comfortable in it.

 

Thanks for all the responses. We've decided against it. She is pretty adamant about not being topless and doesn't feel comfortable seeing others or me looking at other topless women (even though I only really have eyes for her!) What's fun for some isn't fun for everyone I guess. Thanks again, enjoy your upcoming trips, the new resort looks like it's going to be awesome!
