Hello everyone I post it the same thing in cancun info but I think will be faster to ask it here!! I read on Internet since 1st December 2012, major place accept only Mexican pesos!! Is that true? Because last year I pays everything in US dollar!! I got like 2 K to spend there all in American from a customer so what I should do? I'm from Canada and here we lost alot of money when we paid in American!! Thanks =D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, everywhere still accepts US dollar. You sometimes get a better deal with Pesos, but you can spend dollars still. You might get change in Pesos though, and sellers will use exchange rate to their advantage if you're paying in dollars.
I use my credit card when ever possible , get a good exchange rate and avoids carrying a lot of cash. For tips I bring 20 and 50 peso notes ( order from the bank , takes 2 days )
It's more of a situation if you have larger purchases. At the resort, don't worry. For tipping and buying things at gift shops, it's fine.
Just note that if you do purchase items from the gift store in US funds your change will be in Pesos at their exchange rate which is not great. So, just a tip, make sure you have a mix of $5 $10 $20 in US before you leave and obviously $1 for tipping. :biggrinbandit:
Personally I am a big proponent of using Pesos. First I already have to make an exchange since the stores won't as often (but surprisingly do in many cases) take Canadian dollars. The peso works better for the local, it saves them the time (and expense) of exchanging back to pesos, plus I personally think there's a respect factor that as a tourist I am willing and able to use their currency as opposed to making them comply with a desire that I have. BUT that being said, if you have a stack of American currency ready to go then no point making an extra trip to the bank as you'll be able to get by.
Yeah!!! Great well what I'll do once I'm there I'll go to the bank to change a little us for pesos Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
