Westjet called at midnight last night "ya it's Westjet give us a call". Nothing really too dramatic. Call this morning and guess what...flight is cancelled, so hopefully we will leave tomorrow, hopefully.
Hurricane Ida was a bit of a non event here - not even raining for most of the day and winds no more than 15mph downtown. In fact, it's probably the best days weather we've had in 5 days.
It figures it would get nice the day I leave. It rained and blew hard the whole week I was there except the first day. There was some flooding at the hotel and a palm tree was laying down on the beach this morning.
Ida The storm was a real non-event. Rain, wind, but Sunday was almost calm and only one short rain shower. People were great. Trip report to follow. It will be a long one. The party started Saturday in the pouring rain and the activities staff was inside doing???? The crowd at the pool got wild and some were even naked, in the pool. A couple of people got out to get drinks and security asked them to put something on. Again, ACTIVITIES STAFF, inside. We had our own fun without them. The staff was a real joke the rest of the week also. No energy, no ability to get the people involved. An absolute shame to see what Chino has worked so hard to build up go down the drain!!! Chino needs to be back at Cancun getting these dudes back up to speed or they need to go away!!! A real let down with the weather sucking also, they did nothing to get the people involved to pick them up. Eight days and only one day of sun. We partied as did some others but the event staff were all inside, "it is raining" got a little old very quick!!!
Steve, good hear that you and your family made it through OK! Hopefully that was the last of the storms.
Hey Steve- So great to hear... we return for trip #8 on Dec 30. Hope we can run into each other.. we'll be there until Jan 5. Ken and Joyce
