Finally got around to writing my review of our stay (Nov 28 to Dec 12), our 3rd trip to Temptation. This was our second stay during Chaos Crew weeks – we had such a blast last year that we decided to return again this year during the same weeks. It was great meeting up with everyone, old friends and new. I don’t think I could go any other time of year now; I’ve met some lifelong friends that I would sincerely miss if we didn’t make it back annually. I had a great time, with amazing company and lots of laughs, making some insanely fun (and sometimes drunken) memories. I love this place and the Chaos Crew crowd a lot. I’ll agree it’s probably true that the resort might not be in as good a shape as equivalent resorts in Cancun, but I genuinely don’t see how any other place can match the Temptation environment without imposing extra charges, or limiting those certain behaviours we all love (the behaviour that inspires ‘the prudes’ to write all those negative reviews on Trip Advisor :flash:).

The motto is ‘nobody knows you and nobody gives a shit’, and it’s true (aside from the fact that tons of people now know me, yet they still don’t give a shit). Seriously, I have never felt as comfortable in my own skin as I do at Temptation – I can be myself and nobody bats an eyelid. If you’d told me I’d be up drinking till 3am every night downing shots from people I only just met, wearing bikini tops or (shock horror) going topless in public 5 years ago I would’ve called you a liar. We’re all human and I’m sure people do sometimes have opinions inwardly, but it’s a true testament to how lovely everyone is that people have the common courtesy to keep negative comments to themselves. There’s no bitchiness, fighting or overly cliquish behaviour as far as I’m concerned with the November/December Cancuncare crowd. Everybody is welcoming and accepting, making sure everyone is involved and part of the fun.

This trip we tried to participate as much as possible, dressing up for every theme (sometimes with hilarious results). On top of the Temptation themes (white, Lingerie etc), our group also did Christmas, animal, uniform, sports/school uniform, fetish/fantasy and added neon glow to the resort’s white night theme. We saw some amazing outfits, some really inspirational – especially the homemade ones! Hats off to the guys and girls willing to bare all for the fun of it. Russ generated a lot of laughs for his animal night, uniform and fetish/fantasy costumes, suffering through them all being quite heavy/hot to wear.

I’ve tried to remember everything that went on during our stay, but tiredness and all the alcohol has left my recollection of some days a bit fuzzy! It’s taken me a week to get my brain in gear enough to even write a review. As always, apologies for length (seriously – read this in instalments not all in one go!). I write for a living, so rambling on longer than I should is a habit of mine.

Day 1: tequila shots and staying awake for 28 hours

We had a great flight over – no delays and a decent sleep the night before. I pre-booked our seats, so we were virtually first off the plane and through immigration in 10 minutes! Unfortunately our bags took a lot longer (almost an hour). We got green light at the security check (phew!) so onward to USA Transfers. Normally, USA has us on our way within 5 minutes, but this time we were stood outside the terminal for 35 minutes. Can’t really complain, but we lost the benefit of paying extra for private transfer with this delay. Our tour operator includes free transfers in the package deal we book, but I’ve always booked USA to get to the resort quicker; however, this time with the delay, the free transfer would’ve taken about the same time as USA did.

We checked into the hotel around 4pm. Check in was easy, but we got stopped by the timeshare lady. Normally, I tell her we’re from the UK and she leaves us alone, but it didn’t work this year. We had to negotiate a little longer than usual, but still, if you’re polite, stand your ground and refuse the tour she will leave you alone eventually.

At check in I asked for a room close to Paty O, and was allocated 2235 which was perfect (2nd floor overlooking the Paty O bar). The room had plenty of space, and a huge king-sized bed. It was nice to have a room overlooking Paty O: it’s pretty central to everything and I could peek over the balcony in the evenings to see if anyone was about yet. Russ and I don’t always go to bed at the same time, so being so close to the party zone I felt safe walking to the room alone, plus Russ felt safe leaving me in Paty O if he went for a power nap. The only possible downside of a room adjacent to Paty O is that with the loud music and revellers at the bar, noise is an issue every day starting around 4pm right through to 4am the next day. After a few days I’m used to the noise, and since I’m out most nights until at least 2am, it’s really only a small inconvenience for us. If you need your beauty sleep, never accept a room in the 2000 block – you’ll be switching within a day or so. However, as Russ said several times, “If I’m in bed while the DJ is still playing music, something has gone terribly wrong!”

Amenities in the room were fine. Bathroom had a door (always a plus) and the huge bed was comfortable (think it had a mattress topper). Shower only had one showerhead, but shower still big enough for two :icon_wink:. TV is basic, but it’s not like I’m coming to Temptation to watch the TV (well ok Channel 12 does have some appeal). The only English-speaking channel I could find was a crime investigation one (aka murder porn), which was good background noise when I needed down time. If there’s anything I would improve in the rooms, I wish they had overhead lights to brighten things up at night (after 3 trips without one I’m assuming none of them do), but apart from that I was happy with the room and its amenities.

After checking in, we’d been travelling for over 15 hours by this point so a drink was definitely in order. We grabbed a tequila shot and beer at the Quiet Pool, and then made our way over to the Sexy Pool where some of the Cancuncare group were still hanging out. Big thanks to Danny for sharing shots of his good tequila - I was well on my way to drunk before we even left the pool to get ready for Lingerie Night.

The rest of the first night is a bit blurry :partytime:.

I was inevitably struck by first day curse. I remember hitting the buffet, but being too buzzed to eat anything. We then got ready for Lingerie night and I actually managed to watch the show at Nice Shoes for once. Congrats to Scott for winning the competition, and bravo to Richard for his close second. We ended up in Paty O dancing the night away until 4am, equating to a 28-hour long day for us. I remember at some point Jesse and Amber were “encouraged” to call it a night, but Jesse mysteriously reappeared about 45 minutes later claiming it to be too noisy to sleep – sorry we were partying too loud!

Day 2: day of the lost silver bra and ‘no sex in public’

Woke up on Day 2 still a bit tipsy from the night before. I sent Russ off to the buffet for breakfast solo as there was no way I could eat that morning. It was my intention to swim at the quiet pool every morning for an hour 11am – 12 noon, so I duly headed down to the pool for the first swim, and managed the full hour! It’s a great way to rid the body of any lingering alcohol.

Rest of the day was spent at the Sexy Pool, inflatable beer-ponging, catching up with old friends, and yet more drinking. We had an early dinner at the buffet, and then I hit the wall. After first day curse, then a full day drinking, I had to take a break and go lie down. This meant I had to leave Russ to start White Night without me. I genuinely thought I wouldn’t make it out at all that night, but when the DJ started, with great effort I managed to drag my ass out of bed, into my white/glow wear, and down to the party. I’m so glad I did - White Night was amazing. I didn’t go in the foam, but it was fun watching it fly by in big clumps (especially the huge blob that gave Russ an epic money shot as he turned around)! A lot of new people landed that day, so the party had really got going whilst I was sleeping off the day’s drinking.

I considered not drinking at all that night, but what’s the fun in that? I’d brought a bottle of Grey Goose from the duty free in the UK, so in my still slightly ‘delicate’ state, I stuck to the good stuff instead of consuming the resort’s booze. I took my vodka out in an empty water bottle, and just kept topping up my soft drinks with the vodka from the bottle every so often. People thought it was just water, so I freaked a few people out as the night wore on as they couldn’t understand how I was getting tipsier off just water. After that night I nicknamed the bottle of Grey Goose my ‘happy water’.

A special mention to Travis for making it out until 4am on his first night, although he claims not to remember the last two hours of the night! And Russ swears that Travis told him he was from Georgia!

Security was a bit harsh this night. Tricia (of Tricia and Aaron) was giving Jesse a massage, and the security guy came scurrying over shouting “No sex! No sex!”...huh? I could understand if they were facing towards each other, but it was totally harmless, not even remotely ‘sex-like’ or involving nudity. If that’s sex, then I’ve been doing it wrong, or I should be very worried about some of the massages I’ve given/received! Secondly, Carrie was told off for briefly lending her silver bra to Jesse (in the name of comedy of course) because it exposed her breasts. I think it could’ve been handled more politely – plus, there were women wandering around in mesh outfits that ‘bared all’, so what’s the difference?

There were a few occasions over the course of our stay where in Paty O there seemed to be double standards regarding security’s take on acceptable attire. Yeah, our group do push limits, but it’s in a humorous way. They seemed to lay into those wearing the comical barely-there clothes, but were fine with the ladies’ sexy barely-there attire and the occasional toplessness that went down. Maybe the comical tongue-in-cheek outfits don’t fit in with the Temptation ‘concept’ and they’re trying to discourage it??

    Day 3: soggy Christmas

Day 3 was the Saturday pool party. I woke up around 10:50 in a panic...I’m meant to be swimming at 11am! I quickly got dressed and duly made my way down to the Quiet Pool for my swim, only 15 minutes late. Still, a 45 minute swim was a pretty good effort after the night before. Headed over to the Sexy Pool around 2, joining the pool party festivities.

Saturday night we were expecting the pool party out at the Sports Pool, but it was cancelled due to a forecast of bad weather, and instead just the usual DJ setup at Paty O. This was the Cancuncare Christmas theme night, and everyone made a great effort. Unfortunately the rain came in hard and fast. Some of us battled through, but it got pretty miserable fairly early. Berta’s white christmas top quickly turned into a wet t-shirt competition, so at least we got a chance to see the sexy bra she had on underneath! Kurt was a ‘no show’ that night, after a few too many goodbye drinks with Tricia and Aaron on their last day, but Berta put in a good effort and battled on solo almost as long as we did. A big bravo to Lorenzo for the Grinch outfit...all that green!

A lot of people turned in early because of the rain. We made it to about 1am, but called it a night when it started pouring down heavy. My Christmas outfit took nearly a week to dry out completely.

Day 4: boobs cruisin’ and a lesson in why it’s a bad idea to make a bet with me

Day 4 was the Dec 1st Boobs Cruise. The day was fun, the staff excellent – couldn’t do enough for you, and Omar / Chinos on top form. I like the new boat. This was a sell-out cruise, but it didn’t feel overcrowded, and was still relatively easy to get about. The dinner stop seemed shorter than usual, not that I’m complaining, meant more time out on the boat!

Back at the resort we chatted with Ashley and Dave for a while (they’d arrived a few hours earlier) with Trish (the other Trish) and Don by the Sexy Pool bar. Trish and Don had just bought into the premier package, and invited us to have dinner with them at the seafood place that evening. Tasty! Apart from dining one other night at the Italian place, this was the only formal dinner we had. All our other meals were at Margaritas, the buffet, or just snacking on the bar food they put on at Paty O. I don’t go to Temptation for the food – for me it’s all a bit bland, and I think it takes way too long to get through a 3-course meal at the a la carte restaurants. I’m too impatient and half way through I want to be back with a drink in hand at Paty O, so I don’t tend to eat at the speciality places very often. That being said, the quality of the food isn’t bad. It’s all cooked well – the only times I’ve been ill at Temptation it’s been self-induced through too much alcohol or sun!

The pace of this day was like a freight train: we simply didn’t stop :lotsofmichaelfs:.

We went straight from the cruise, to the Sexy Pool bar, to dinner, then right back out to Paty O. I was surprised I was still standing by the time we made it out to the bar! We sat at the bar for a while with Jesse, Travis, Trish, Don and Berta...Kurt was a no show again after the cruise. After an hour or so and still no Kurt the guys decided this was unacceptable (since he was a no show the day before too) and decided it was time to send ‘the most out of shape heavy squad’ consisting Russ, Don and Travis to go fetch him from the room to come party, no excuses. It took all of 5 minutes to persuade Berta this was a good idea, before she handed over her room key to the guys. I’ve seen practical jokes like this in the past go very wrong very quickly, so it was an intense 15 or so mins wait for a) a happy and enjoyed the joke or b) angry and tired Kurt to return with the guys. :sofa:

It had not been fully explained to Travis that Kurt and Berta’s room was way out past the Quiet Pool...up three flights of stairs...at the end of the longest corridor in existence! By this point the boys were considering that maybe this joke wasn’t worth the effort! Luckily, Kurt must be a light sleeper as he answered the door (after only two of Don’s *knock knock knock* “Penny’s) wearing underwear and a t shirt. Unfortunately, they only found out after dragging him out into the corridor that the room key didn’t work!

This meant that Kurt was unable to go back and put proper clothes on! Thankfully Kurt has a sense of humour so all was good, and he came back and partied with us for a while.

Hilariously, about midnight, Russ started to feel a bit tired, and decided to go have a power nap in our room, crucially leaving me with the room key. You can see what’s coming next. 45 minutes later and the guys, very aware of the irony of the situation, suggested it was now Russ’ turn to be rudely awakened by the squad. I know Russ has a sense of humour, but he did look tired when he went up, and we had been out on the cruise all day with no afternoon power nap before hitting Paty O...ah screw it, it took me maybe 3 minutes before fishing the key out and passing it to the guys to go get Russ up. I had a panicked moment right after I handed it over that they’d burst in to a naked husband fast asleep with Channel 12 playing in the background...thankfully all was well and Russ was fully dressed (and having strategically changed the TV to another channel!), having suspected this trickery might occur.

The night carried on, and it wasn’t long before the unwinnable bet was wagered. In my inebriated state, I made a comment to the group that I was going to stay up till 4am, even though we’d been on a cruise all day and had been drinking since 10am that morning. Travis, unfamiliar with my drinking patterns, wagered that there was no way I’d make it to 4am, and that I would be well in bed before he was. I like winning easy bets, so I took the challenge – knowing full well if I say I’m staying up to a certain time, I’ll be up and still drinking to that said time. I feel a bit of a cheat, because I’m not a gambler and I won’t take on a bet if there’s more than a 5% chance of me losing.

Fast forward a few hours and Travis is waning. Russ had called it quits again a few hours earlier, and had set an alarm to wake up and collect my drunken ass from the bar at 4am, so I was drinking solo for a few hours. This is where true Cancuncare camaraderie kicks in. Regardless of it being late and everyone tired, both Travis and Christa refused to leave my side, even though I was certain they were ready to call it a day long before that 4am goal. Sorry guys, that night was one of ‘those’ nights (I inevitably have one or two of them every trip) when I’m stupid drunk and should be old enough to know better, but invariably end up staying out drinking all night. For what it’s worth I had fun chatting with these guys when the music switched off at 2am up to that 4am goalpost.

I found out later that there was another wager that night, where Trish and Don bet the guys that they wouldn’t be first out to the pool the next day. They wandered over to the Sexy Pool to take a picture on the loungers about 1am, but were sternly told upon their return that didn’t count – they had to be there when the sun was up. I heard that Jesse was up and out that day at 7am...so I guess you can’t make a wager with that guy either and expect to win!

Day 5: hangover from hell, hair of the dog and animal mayhem

I began Day 5 with a hangover from hell (and still a fair bit drunk from the night before). :partytime::partytime:

This is the day my daily swim went out the window – I certainly wasn’t going to make it that day for fear of drowning, and it seemed fruitless thereafter to keep up the routine.

Russ and I don’t buy birthday presents for each other anymore – we put the money we’d spend on a gift into the ‘Let’s go back to Temptation Fund’ instead, which means a lot more to me than a piece of never-worn jewellery etc. However, we still want to do something special for each other on our birthdays. As his gift to me this year, I asked Russ if he’d take on the burden of the Walmart trip solo to get the things I can’t live without – chips, Dr Pepper and sugar free Red Bull. The day of my epic hangover seemed like as good a day as any for him to fulfil this promise, so early morning he went off to Walmart whilst I nurtured my poor head in bed for a while.

With the maid’s trolleys rambling past every 5 mins I couldn’t sleep, so I got my shit together, fumbled on some clothes and ventured down to the Sexy Pool. I must’ve looked a right state – apologies to anyone who witnessed me down the pool that day, I was not in a good way! I don’t have any photographic evidence to prove it, but apparently this is an artists’ impression of what I looked like:

I had the bright idea that since the hangover was refusing to budge with the usual water and aspirin trick, I thought what the hell, hair of the dog, I may as well try a few more drinks to try and at least get back to ‘happy’ drunk. WARNING...DO NOT TRY THIS! Not a good idea! Russ got back from Walmart to find me swaying on the stool at the Sexy Pool swim-up bar exclaiming “I’ve had tequila!”

A few drinks later, the label in the back of my tankini top was bothering me. A sober me would find a pair of scissors and cut it out, but the drunk me - inhibitions out the window – decided it was easier to just take the top off completely. :flash:

I spent a good few hours that day with our inflatable bar tray keeping me afloat, topless, and a hat and sunglasses masking the maniacal drunk look on my face. Half way through the day and it’s clear the ‘let’s drink more’ cure isn’t working...I’ve had enough. By this point I’ve been basically drunk for over 24 hours and I can’t take it anymore, so I take myself off to bed to sleep it off.

Like White Night, I very nearly missed the Animal theme night completely. Russ had to come wake me up about 9pm when he came back up to the room to get changed. I enjoyed the night, again, some very imaginative, cute and sexy outfits. Also a lot of zebras! I’m sure there’ll be pictures of Russ’ zebra outfit, complete with zebra head, on the picture countdown next year. I also feel slightly sorry for Richard, as he was encouraged to wear the zebra head to match his Tarzan outfit...then was promptly lead away by Michelle to show it off, despite his protestations of being unable to see anything!!! It was hot that night and I couldn’t muster enough energy to power through the hangover completely, so I called it a night about midnight. Russ stayed up a bit later, but he too called it quite early. I’m sure the sensible people who went to bed at a reasonable time after the cruise the day before stayed up and partied much later into the night!

Day 6: downtown bus fun and Coree’s gummy adventure

After an epic sleep I awoke feeling like a whole new person – no hangover / drunkenness! :aktion033:

I think I even made it to breakfast, since I’d eaten basically nothing the day before (except a hat of nachos that Russ sneaked out of the buffet for me when I was at the pool).

Bit of a shock looking out of the balcony this day – the old metallic furniture in Paty O’s had disappeared and been replaced with bright red/white plastic chairs and tables. It looks very different, sort of like something you’d see at a wedding. At first we all thought it was being put in for a special event, but apparently they’re here to stay. Biggest difference with this furniture is that the cushions aren’t removable. When it rains, they get wet, but it’s supposed to be waterproof. I’d say that’s a fair assumption up to a point – they’re water resistant enough to hold up to the odd shower, but I don’t think I’d want to sit on one if there’d been sustained rain for over 30 mins. The old chairs were looking really worn/a bit rusty so this new plastic stuff is a good idea though. They’re pretty comfortable too, and as they’re not as wide as the old ones, I’d say there’s almost double the amount of seating in Paty O than there was with the old chairs.

(view of the new chairs from our balcony)

On this day we went on a day trip with Lola and Danny to Puerto Morellos, catching a bus from the bus station in downtown Cancun, It was a fun day, but less fish off the shore than I was expecting. Isla Mujeres is much better for this – at Puerto Morellos I think you really need to take one of the boat tours out to the reef to see anything good.

The theme for this night was uniform. We had many kinds of uniforms make an appearance: cops, schoolgirls, nurses, army, belly dancers, superheroes (thankfully I wasn’t the only one!). Hats off to Jesse for the genie in the lamp costume. We had a fun night. Ashley brought down a bag of her famous vodka gummies (gummy bears soaked in vodka) that were awesome! Thank you Ashley, I just wish you’d been around later in the evening to see what happened with them. Basically, the bag got forgotten for most of the night. It was hot and humid that evening. When we remembered the gummy bag, they had disintegrated into a sticky mushy paste. Waste not want not, we still tried to eat them. I tried to find a spoon or something, but there was literally no cutlery to be found, so we then tried to ‘suck’ the bears out with a straw. This worked to a point, but only to feed one bear at a time to other people. Eventually, we just glooped out about half the bag into a cup...which Coree promptly decided to chug in one go. There must’ve been about 40-50 bears in that cup! I wish we’d had the foresight to take a picture of his face trying to swallow half a cup of vodka gummies in one go (with everyone doing their best to make him laugh) - hilarious. Half an hour later he was back asking for more, so to finish the bag off we filled his cup back up again (about ¾ full this time) with the gummy gloop. I can’t explain what it is about vodka gummies, but they are more alcoholic than you expect. Coree was almost bouncing off the walls for half the night. :aetsch004:

I think it was this night we finally had the insight to bring down some of our drinking games. By far the most successful was the dice game. This is really easy to play, anybody could drop in and out as they pleased, and it’s strangely addictive considering how simple it is! After uniform night, we set this up nightly in the Paty O bar and it was a great activity to have going on around the table. We also brought a magnetic dart board that had a normal dart board on one side and a ‘naughty’ board on the other (this doubled as Russ’ sports night theme costume). As a game it was a nice concept, but didn’t really work in practice, as people were a bit reluctant to play with the naughty side, and there wasn’t any way of keeping score with the real dart board side.

We left the guys to it and turned in about 2am on uniform night – I heard the next day some were still up at 5am!

Day 7: the day of the hot sexy pool and proper English cake

Day 7 was my birthday. :partyhorn:

We’d celebrated with a round of shots the night before at midnight, but unlike last year, I held off on starting the real celebration until the actual day. I’d originally planned to spend the day snorkelling at Isla Mujeres, but the weather was absolutely gorgeous and it really felt like it was meant to be a day spent hanging out at the pool. For once, the Sexy Pool water was actually hot! We sat about in the whirlpools for a bit, and then migrated over to the ‘usual’ Chaos Crew pool spot by the bar.

We had dinner that night at the Italian, which was really nice. Loads of the crew managed to get reservations, so it made it sort of a celebration. I’m not fussy about my birthday and don’t really like or need any special attention, but I was genuinely bowled over by the effort the staff go to for special occasions. They even sang ‘happy birthday’ to me (and not the typical Temptation version either!). We finished the meal off with a sexy coffee, which is a show all on its own. I owe a big thank you to Sue, who went out of her way to make sure we got early reservations, and she also bought me a birthday card and got everyone to sign it. It really meant a lot to me, and is a keepsake from the holiday that I will genuinely treasure.

I had a lot of trouble finding any kind of birthday cake last year, so this trip I brought one with me from home. I spent a lot of time that night trying to get people to eat the cake, before the Cancun heat turned it into a soggy mess. When we got to Paty O, it turned out Jannet and Steve were there for a night out. Their presence just escalated the party, and it turned into one of those epic nights where everyone is just having fun, dancing and enjoying life.

Day 8: day of the Jaeger shots and the palm tree annihilation

Day after my birthday, I can’t remember what we did in the day, but I know there were a few days we took a day off and just watched some films on my smart phone. This was probably one of those days.

Then it was off to our 2nd lingerie night of the trip. It was another hot and humid night, so Russ and I didn’t bother going over to the Nice Shoes show, just stayed in Paty O in our theme wear. I remember this night Lorenzo and Karen brought out the Jaegerbombs...thanks guys, fun times. As a lot of the people who were with us during week 1 weren’t going to be around for fetish night, Russ decided to go put his fetish night costume on, to give those who wouldn’t see it on the real night a taste of what it was about...you know it’s good when you get a round of applause when you walk down the stairs, from people who aren’t even on Cancuncare! I’m proud of Russ for wearing this outfit. When we were looking for something for him dress up in for fetish night, it was hard to find something that would look good, but not too extreme. I came up with this outfit by randomly putting mad crazy outfit ideas together. It went down well, and did look good, but I know I wouldn’t have the nerve to wear something so weird, so hats off to my husband for having the balls (which the tutu skirt prevented people from seeing mashed into an unflattering lump) to put it on!

Somehow this night all the long bar tables were occupied, so we ended up crowded around a tiny round bar table in the corner right by these massive palm trees in Paty O. It was really windy and the tree just kept getting in everyone’s way, so we decided it needed pruning. A lot of us tried to bend the wayward branch out of harm’s way, but it kept popping back. Danny eventually took the initiative and ‘pruned’ it away.

Day 9: Coree’s fake birthday (or belly flop 101)

This was the day of the Dec 6th Boobs Cruise. Thankfully, Russ had the foresight to advise me not to sign us up for this cruise, considering lingerie night is usually a late one. I’m glad he did, because I didn’t make it out all day. I wasn’t particularly hung over, but there was something not right with me. I just felt incredibly tired and was reluctant to sit out in the sun.

Having a great holiday isn’t all about the party, for us it’s also about taking some time out to be with each other too – something we don’t make enough time for at home, that gets forgotten with working stressful jobs and busy weekends. :liebe011:

We took this day for us really. Russ went down to the pool for a bit, but we were having a fun room day, so apologies for anyone looking out for me at the pool that day.

We did finally make it out for our 2nd White Night, finally using up the last of the glow sticks we have had for the past 2 years. Everyone brought lots of glow stuff this night, maybe too much! Another change to the schedule, there was no foam on this night – they’d switched it to Saturday night instead. I’m guessing Temptation maybe don’t want to mess up the new furniture in Paty O, as the foam party was switched to the side of the Sport’s Pool during the Saturday night pool party.

I think this was the day that some of the Crew decided it was a good idea to do every cocktail on the Temptation Cocktail Menu sequentially. :ernaehrung005:

There are about 20 cocktails on this menu. They started late afternoon, and completed the list around 1am. The last few seemed like the hardest, ending with a Tequila Sunrise. I took one for the team and drank Russ’ Sangria for him - I can drink red wine, not sure Russ would have handled it so well!

This was Coree’s last night, and he started telling everyone that it was his birthday, and that we all HAD to go night swimming in the Sport’s Pool, as it was his birthday and all, and he was leaving in the morning. He was sat on one of the bar stools, and Matt/Carrie decided it’d be fun to tie him to the chair, carry the chair to the dance floor and really give him a show for ‘his birthday’. Good fun, considering it wasn’t his real birthday after all! Had some of us fooled for a while, then when the truth came out we just went along with it, seeing as Coree really wanted to party for his last night. It was funny watching Coree dancing away with the glow sticks, long after everyone else had given up on them!

We stayed in Paty O until the music shut off, then as we’d promised, out to the Sport’s Pool. It wasn’t one of the hot nights, so a little worried getting into unheated water in the middle of the night, it was fine though. Not that cold once you’re in. Best part of the night was the belly-flop contests that Michelle really really wanted to win...so fun! That was until Security came by and told us we couldn’t do it anymore. Boo! Good thing none of us were skinny dipping. Then things got wild and someone was passing around a bottle of tequila in the pool...I estimate I must’ve done about 6 shots that night.

A while later we made it back to Paty O, a bit wet. Had our music player out with us this night, so some music going, and a lot of drinking. Called it a night about 5am...latest we’d managed all trip. Great night in all – I’ve no clue how Coree managed to get to the airport on time the next day!

    Day 10: foamy Christmas

Phew...day 10. With 4 more days to go we’re starting to hit the wall at this point. Had a long sleep in after seeing Coree off the night before, but still made it down to the pool relatively early. Nobody there. Not a single Chaos Crew friend in sight. With not much going on we decided to go lie up on the loungers at the Quiet Pool. I lay down for around an hour, but not feeling too good in the heat...must’ve been the tequila repeating :wuerg011:

I left Russ out at the pool and retired to our air conditioned room for a bit. :icon_cry:

A few hours later I mustered up the energy to go find him again. He was still out by the Quiet Pool, but had acquired Kurt, Carrie and Matt. Carrie and Matt were with us all the night before, so feeling equally as shit as we were. I chose not to touch another drink though – Matt seemed to be going the same way as I did on day 5! Unfortunately Berta picked up a serious chest infection near the end of their stay, and it’d come to a head that morning when she had to go to the hospital. Not good! We were all thinking of her on the days she couldn’t make it out the room. Sucks to be so ill on vacation.

We eventually made our way to the Sexy Pool, and I think a few more people were out by that point. This was Trish and Don’s last day, so a bit sad to see them winding it down. We made plans to have dinner at Margaritas. Unfortunately the meal wasn’t so great that night. Steaks weren’t up to standard. I soldiered through, picking around mine a bit, but Trish really struggled through it. Really sorry guys that you chose to eat with us that night at Margaritas, on your last night and the meal sucked. We should’ve just gone to the Italian again like you planned.

So, back around again to our 2nd Christmas theme night. Thankfully my outfit had just about dried out from the washout the week before. This was a bit off an off night. Everyone was getting close to the end of their stay, having partied like rock stars for almost two weeks. Russ and I were certainly getting to the point of being ‘done’. The music sucked that night. As they’d moved the foam night to the Saturday, the pool party and foam night was going on around the Sport’s Pool. We were all sat in Paty O but they were only playing the stupid filler music. :angrymad:

We ventured over to the Sport’s Pool, but it was way too windy out there and hardly anywhere to sit, plus they had the sound system on way too loud. I’m not one to complain about music being loud (I mean we had a room adjacent to Paty O for 14 nights!), but this really was far too loud – in that nobody could hear a word anyone was saying, even stood right next to you. Whilst we were at the pool I also noticed the foam was going wild in the wind. It spread quite far, even over to Paty O. I felt a bit sorry for people eating dinner in Margaritas at that time, the music must’ve been a major distraction, and the foam was passing right through the mesh windows and onto tables, and getting caught in the ceiling fans.

We made our way back to Paty O, where at least we could hear. Still, that dull filler music was really bringing everyone down. Thankfully, they stopped the party at the pool about 11:00 and brought the music back into Paty O. The change was almost instantaneous, invigorating the party spirit back to how it should be! This was Angie and Zoran’s first day, and they really put in an effort with theme costumes, getting everyone’s spirits back up. I love these guys, and sincerely hope they make it back next year.

We got a few other people making the effort to dress up again – return of the Grinch! This was Carrie and Matt’s last night. Although I think they were feeling well and truly done, they still made it out in their Xmas gear. I think we made it out until the music shut off at 2am and then called it a night.

Day 11: school’s out for jello shots

Think we had another off morning on Day 11, spending some time in the room, but made it down to the Sexy Pool mid-afternoon. Things are a bit fuzzy though by this point. All the pool days seem to merge together! I know at some point a switch had been made and we had a host of new friends to party with – Nathan, Kel and Jim, Danielle and Colin, Josh from Oklahoma, Larry and Kathy, Doug and Betsy, Don and Daisy, Shawn and George. I’m sorry I didn’t really keep up with all the names and not really much clue what days most people came in/left. I’m terrible at remembering who I’ve met and who I haven’t – it probably has a bit to do with all the late nights and drinking.

It was another hot night this evening – just in time for schoolgirl and sports theme. I’m guilty of under-dressing this night, my outfit was as a graduate – plain black dress with black high heels and a little graduation hat. Others were more daring – well done Master Baiter, well played. Lynn also looked amazing in her NASCAR outfit. Russ had the magnetic dart board on, and he tried to get people to play the rude side, but they just kept making him do whatever the dart landed on.

At midnight, Ed brought out Marlene’s traditional birthday jello shots with AIWC topping. Wouldn’t be right starting the birthday without them! We turned in at 1am, to be up bright and early for our 2nd cruise the next day.

    Day 12: Marlene’s birthday cruise

I really enjoyed this day. The weather was great, but with more of a breeze than the Dec 1st cruise. Everything just seemed to fit better with this one. I like how it was changed up a bit. On the 9th, we did the snorkel first off, then the downtown stop (early around noon, staying about 45-50 mins). Next was lunch and then the skinny dip, before heading back to Temptation. Others may have a different opinion, but I enjoyed doing the downtown stop first (rather than doing it after lunch or foregoing it altogether). Doing this stop first broke the morning up a bit, rather than cruising all the way to lunch. Doing the downtown stop early didn’t interfere with the party atmosphere that gets going around the lunch stop, but it helped get the group to ‘gel’ at the bar where people could freely move about and talk to different people that they might not necessarily have done if we stayed on the boat.

I’d recommend giving this set up a few more tries and seeing what other people’s opinion is. It worked for me. As usual, the atmosphere, games etc on the cruise was worth every penny. My only recommendation (which is purely my opinion) for the cruise would be to change up the brand of tequila currently served. I tried one shot on the Dec 1st cruise and (for me) it was undrinkable. I’m not shy when it comes to alcohol and I can handle pretty much anything straight up, tequila included, but the tequila served that day just tasted odd to me. For me, the tequila shots on the cruise are sort of part of the entertainment on the boat, and the odd one through the day adds to the fun of the atmosphere, but after that first shot we had on the Dec 1st cruise, both me and Russ kept clear of any tequila being offered around. The other drinks (pink/orange/beer) is all good with me – strength perfect to keep the party going, not strong enough to make anyone feel that they’d have to refuse it. That’s another reason I liked the addition of the first downtown stop – I bought myself a shot of great tequila from the bar.

Rest of the day was relatively tame when we got back off the boat. Noticed this night that Temptation seems to have stopped the outside buffet on a Monday night. Only food served inside both Monday nights we stayed.

Russ was exhausted from the cruise, and lay down for a sleep, but I was wide awake. I decided to let him sleep and went down to the bar for more drinks quite early. Luckily, there were already quite a few people at the bar, so had a good few hours chatting with other friends there. Unfortunately I felt really sleepy about 11pm, so went upstairs for a half hour power nap, only to awake 4 hours later around 3am. I made it back down to Paty O to find Russ, but the guys were pretty much done by this point, so back up to bed for the rest of the night! I missed the party that night, but probably my own fault for not trying to get an afternoon nap after the cruise, instead of powering through it. Bit sad I missed Christa’s last night too.

Day 13: day of the two Zurcs and the disco gimp

Said our farewells to Christa in the morning, then it all went a bit quiet for a while. This was our last day to ‘party hard’, having agreed that we have to take it easy on our last night to ensure we’re packed and ready for the journey home on the last night/day. Boy did we party! We spent a lot of the day in the pool, then quick bite to eat at the buffet, before hitting the bar about 6, for liquid courage to get dressed in fetish gear. Finally got to see our old friends Mandy and Alan this day too (GoGoBlanco).

Fetish theme was a hit. :aktion047:

We all looked great, if a bit nervous first thing in the evening. Colin looked dashing in Jesse’s genie lamp costume! By far the best costume this night was Andre dressed up as Jesse. That was fantastic – they were pretty much wearing exactly the same outfit, even the hair was the same length! This was also the band night, which I always enjoy – again it didn’t disappoint.

This was my last night, so we stuck it out to the bitter end (5:30). I drank far too much! I have to thank Zoran for feeding me water part way through the night – I don’t think I would’ve made it without it! You’ve inspired Russ in future when I’m having one of ‘those’ nights to just put water down in front of me and tell me I have to drink it, rather than merely asking if I’d prefer a soft drink next. The favour was partially repaid when Zoran shouted from the balcony asking for pineapple juice! Room service Russ to the rescue! One of my last memories of this night was drinking some weird shots that Aussie Nate ordered at the bar when they came back from the clubs. Electric blue in colour, bloody awful in taste! I was feeling that drink for hours the next day.

Day 14: the day the rain didn’t stop

Last year we planned to go snorkelling at Isla Mujeres and never made it, and it was looking like we weren’t going to make it this year, except for my sheer determination not to go home disappointed again at my own laziness. So, we mustered up some energy and actually made it out to the island this day, stormy rain weather and all. I’m glad I did. It was fantastic! Even with the bad weather, I really enjoyed the snorkelling at Garrafon. I don’t think anyone believed we made it, but I have the pictures to prove it!

This day was also Karen's birthday - happy birthday Karen!

The weather cleared up a bit on our way back, and we did make it out that evening for a bit, but we called it a night relatively early (12:30).

Day 15: so long Mexico, see you next year

After 14 days of party, we were ready to go. Even taking it easy on our last night, I was desperately tired and definitely in need of sleep in my own bed back home. We had a 7pm flight, so had to stay at the resort until 4pm for our transfer back to the airport. I wished we’d ordered it for a bit earlier, as it was another pretty stormy/rainy day and not much going on. We lay out on a beach bed in the morning for a while, and managed to witness some poor couple flip over the hobby boat thing out in the water. Did not look like fun. It was one of those car crash moments, where you shouldn’t look, but you just can’t look away. Once the rain came in again, we just gave up and waited patiently in the lobby for our transfer.

So that’s it then – Russ and Trish’s 14 days of Temptation Party 2013. I enjoyed every minute of it, even the days I wasn’t feeling too good. We met tons of incredibly friendly people, and made lots of memories. I can’t wait to go back next year, and hope all our friends make it back too. :aktion069:

We really do love this place, specifically the people we meet, familiarity with the theme nights etc and the amazing staff that can’t do enough for you. I got some good news the other day – change in a policy at work meant I got a payout for time I’d worked in lieu instead of just storing up the days, which has added up to a fair amount. This will already pay for around 45% of what it costs us to go back next November, so it’s already looking good for us to return same time next year! :daveandmo:

Never feel bad for a long one. I love the feeling of being there, even the pain of the bad days.
