I know in alot of different post there is hints on making your trip more enjoyable and trouble free (even though shit happens and you can still run into problems) but figured as someone who travels alot could pass on a few tips and would be great for others to post their tips also.

    1. Always call your credit card company and tell them you are going to Mexico on certain dates and make sure you tell them to put it in the comments on your account. Also explain to them you don't want to have to call them from Mexico when they put a hold on your card since it cost so much a minute to be put on hold. Two years ago I called them and told them when I was going but they still put a hold on it and called my cell to confirm it was me there and it cost me over 20.00 to get it straigthened out. Last year told them not to call and put in the comments and I didn't have a problems the whole trip.

    2. Call your cell phone company tell them you are going to Mexico and get the best deal they can give you. Make sure if you have to do anything special when you get to Mexico with your phone you ask them and do it when you get to the airport waiting for your transport.

    2. Don't overpack. Many do and it is just more of a pain at the airport and customs and then you have to spend more time in the room to unpack. There is always Walmart there if you need it.

    3. If you don't want to eat at the buffet the first night you are there make friends with people on this forum and if they are going to be there before you see if they can make reservations for you with them. Great way to make instant friends and if the person you are asking is single then they most likely would like that since it also great for them so they have someone to go to dinner with. Even though most singles there have no problem meeting people for dinner but still a benefit for both. Trust me the buffet is good but the resturants are amazing usually.

    4. Single guys be respectful. Don't give the good guys bad reps. Single women you can do whatever you want..lol Well that is my point of view and don't think many will argue. Well at least respect the married men unless their wives edges you on....lol.

    5. Respect the people who work there. Treat them like you would like to be treated to at work. They work hard everyday and yes some days they may not seem so happy to be there but if you had to do what they do and couldn't drink and join you you wouldn't be to pleased all the time. They are there working to support their families just as you would have to do.

    6. When you check in and get to your room and are not happy don't be affraid to ask for a different room. On the weekend it may be a bit harder to do since alot of people go on friday or saturday but they will work with you. I start my vacation during the middle of the week since usually it is easier to get a better room.

    7. Enjoy yourself you are on vacation and noone knows who you are but if you have fun people will remember you and you will earn friends for many years. As you can see alot of people on this forum work their vacations around others they meet at the resort before.

    8. Read the forums and get to know people. As the days get closer to your departure keep up with everyone on here.

    9. When you get back try to make a trip report and let others things that you learn. People that are about to get there love to read them to hype themselves up on going ( not that many need the motivation) but still great to read and get you read for the fun you will have.

    10. Join the activities. Even if you aren't quite ready for that when you get there don't be afraid to say Hi to anyone you walk by and quite a few will make conversation with you. If you go alone it is fine to sit at the bar and just try to make conversation with others as they come get their drinks. If they know your alone most will chat and will try to get you to join their group usually

    11. DRINK WATER everyday. I will try to take one mug just for water to keep sipping from or drink inbetween drinks. It makes it much more enjoyable when you can stay up all night and not get sick. Eat a good meal in the morning and eat off and on during the day plenty of food there.

    12. If your a single woman and guys are creeping you just find a group of couples or people having fun tell them whats going on and they will protect you for sure plus a great way to meet new friends. Last year it happened to a couple women and they joined us and spent the rest of the week around us plus they felt protected.

Well that is a few of things I go by and sure that many of you out there can give better ideas. Just something I think that first timers can read and go by. Please add more since I know there is more.

Cann't wait to meet those that will be there end of April beginning of May.

    forgot to add

hang at Patty'O at night if you don't want to go out in town you will always meet people. As time goes on we all drink more and more and you will always find someone to chat with even though at times you may not understand what they are talking about just smile and buy them another drink....lol. And when they open up the grill there by the bar get the hotdogs and fries they always go great around that time in the morning. They got burgers too with all the fixings. Just take advantage of it and eat up.

Bring plenty of motrin or aspirian whichever is your fix. But if you drink plenty of water you will enjoy the mornings

Thanks for sharing all that great info. About 11 days, or sleeps as our Canadian friends-to-be would say, for us, and we can't wait!

Hey can I ask for some advice? We don't have a shuttle lined up to take us to the hotel from the airport. Is it possible to just grab a cab or should we set up a shuttle?

    Thanks!!

USA Transfers is the best we have used, cheapest, fastest to the hotel. Its a private car cheaper than a cab. Its a sticky on one of the pages.
