Well, I am going to England for a week in march, I am planning on taking about 2,000.00usd with me, half in cash the other half in my account and use my debit card. Is that enough? I have a free place to stay all week, the majority of my spending will be food, pubs, and the train to travel!

The train is quite expensive, depends when u book, where you going etc. For example a return to peterborough at easter for me is £100 and thats the cheapest ticket

2k would be plenty i reckon

if you know which days you're travelling, use

    http://www.thetrainline.com/

they normally have the cheapest tickets when you book in advance, if not just don't travel before 9:30am or you'll get hit with peak time fares.

ah cool ok. so you get heathrow express to kings cross, then kings cross to pboro i expect. Nice and easy. Btw in england you are required to wear more than orange boardshorts, a mahogany tan and sunglasses
