I just wanted to give a bit of a write up on our recent trip to Temptations Resort. TLDR version is it was OUTSTANDING! Some of the recent reviews on here talk about the food quality so I was a bit concerned about that when doing some research before the trip. I have been to one other all-inclusive resort previously and I was really not impressed with anything they had to eat. I wish I could remember the name of the place but if I remember correctly it had about a 4 star rating. It’s not like the food they had was bad it just didn’t taste “normal”. I really can’t explain it better than that but I’ve had other friends go to resorts and state the same thing. That being said the food at Temptations was 100% better! It wasn’t fine dining by any means but it was very good. The pizza and the burgers could have fueled me alone at the buffet. The specialty restaurants were also good. The Italian place was my favorite but I’m pretty spoiled living in St. Louis and having an outstanding Italian community with killer restaurants. I would put the food around the Fazzoli’s chain Italian restaurants in the states. The Asian place was good and I would compare it to any Chinese buffet you can find in the states. I’m not a food critic by any stretch but overall I liked everything I had. I also didn’t go to this resort for fine dining more for the party vibe. The drinks were also great. I don’t believe I had any top shelf liquor but what they poured for me did its job! I don’t know what beer was on draft but the important part was it was COLD. The other resort I was at I never once had a cold beer so I loved this. I do love craft beers but for events where I drink all day I usually stick to Bud Light. Whatever they had on tap wasn’t Bud Light but it was fine by my tastes and I kept getting refills! It was the same way with any mixed drink I had where the most important part was they kept the drinks cold. I don’t know if it’s a fair comparison to the other resort since I was there later in the season when it was warmer but I don’t think I ever had a cold mixed drink there either. I found the service throughout the resort outstanding. Jose, the bartender at the sexy pool, was extremely friendly and always kept my drink full. I was normally tipping a dollar every other round or so. I don’t know if that is excessive and that is why I had great service but I normally tip that way in the US at any bar I’m at so I kept with that standard. Erik was our server at the Italian restaurant and he was also phenomenal! Seriously I’ve been to very nice restaurants all over the place and this guy was on par with any server I have ever had. The event staff was also entertaining by the pool every day. Some of the contests were a blast to watch. I did not leave the resort for any other night life for our trip but the events that were planned out every evening were a lot of fun. The only negative thing on this I have to say is the last night we were there they had a live band. I’m in no way a fan of cover bands so I would have preferred a DJ. So we went to hang out in the disco that night and they didn’t have any music playing. I would have just been cool if they had Pandora or anything else on shuffle with the lights going in the place. The last thing I’ll bring up is I keep hearing this resort is “lifestyle” or “swinger” friendly. That had me a bit concerned before the trip. I don’t swing but I have nothing against anyone doing whatever they are comfortable with and enjoy. To each his own. I’m not trying to sound conceded or anything but my wife is pretty hot, or at least I think so, and I was a bit concerned that it would be a bit on the creepy side if we kept getting approached for something we were not interested in. I wouldn’t have been offended if we were approached but it was just something that was in the back of my mind. This was in no way, shape, or form the case. We talked to tons of people and met some really cools ones and had a blast. Every single person I met just seemed to want to have a good time and that’s exactly the type of people we were hoping to meet. If anyone of them were swingers no one ever brought anything up. That or the fact that my wife is way more attractive them me dissuaded them since I would have had to have been involved! Anyway it was just a GREAT vacation. I’ve gone from not really being interested in going back to Cancun from my first trip to now making this an annual event and trying to bring more friends next time and extend our stay when we do. When we do book it for next year it will be at Temptations for sure!
i second that!! love the place myself!!!!!!! glad you had a positive exper. i love pasta myself, and i get pretty dissapointed at italian rest. but i love TTR's italian rest. alot!
