So I wasnt sure if I wanted to post a trip report or not but Tony said I should. I am not going to sugar coat anything and this is my honest experience at Grand Oasis Sens. We are not ritzy 5 star resort people. We loved TTR and never complained about the rooms there or anything, except the one room with the window in the bathroom, that threw me off a bit lol. So here goes nothing....

Overall, we had an amazing trip with 21 of us from TTR in our group. The resort let us do skimpy theme nights with no problems what-so-ever. We did get looked at by other guest like a freak show but most of them seemed like they wanted to join in on the fun and some even asked what the rest of the themes were during their stay so they could try to join. Our group and a few other randoms were the only ones topless but we never felt uncomfortable about it. There are cameras EVERYWHERE from guests. No one puts their phones down at all, even in the pools. Everyone is face-timing and doing the facebook live so expect to be in pictures and videos. They have no resort rules about this. Tony and I decided if we went as just a couple to this resort we would have hated it and had a terrible time. However, we went with such an amazing group of friends and did themes and took over the club pretty much it was a blast!

    Here is our experience.....

When we first arrived at the resort it was around 1pm and we had friends that had arrived the day before waiting for us in the pool. Check-in took about 30mins which we didnt mind but the power was out in Cancun when we got there. I guess a transformer had blown in Cancun and large area was out of power. So of course the air didnt work and a lot of their systems. They could not be to blame for this. We didnt get a room until after 3pm which we were fine with, we put our stuff in our friends room and changed and went to the pool. The outdoor area is beautiful, amazing view of the beach and beautiful ocean. We hung out in the lower pool below the swim-up bar. The bar is not easy to access unless you hang out in that small pool the whole time which is boring! The biggest issue we had with the outdoor area is all the stairs and how choppy everything is. Nothing flows together or is easy to access. Even the bathrooms are a pain to get to so plan accordingly. Also our friend brought a portable speaker to the pool every day which was great because they do have music at the resort but it is so soft most of the time that you cant hear it from the other end of the pool. Oh and dont forget your mugs! The bars arent easy to get to in the pool and the cups are super small. You could spot the vacation vets by the people who brought their own mugs and then the many people that came up and asked us where we got them from!

We got our room and we were on floor 3 which is down from the lobby which is floor 4. So to go anywhere we had to go upstairs to go down a floor lol we thought it was funny. The worst part is most of our stay the elevator on our side did not work and we had to walk a million flights of stairs no matter where we were going. One of our friends was on crutches and it was a major struggle for him.

We had no issues with the food at all throughout most of our stay. Though making reservations is not easy to do. They are full almost all of the time. The Italian was good with big portions and the Mexican was good as well however it was extremely hot in the Mexican restaurant. We also did the Japanese restaurant with a large group of friends, they did not accommodate groups well and the portions at this restaurant were really small. They do warn people about it so order 2-3 meals per person if you want to actually feel satisfied. The buffet was not our favorite on this trip though we were always able to find something to eat there. They did have 2 soft serve ice cream machines at the resort which were an after dinner favorite!

    Our room:

The bed was comfortable, we had a garden view with no balcony which wasnt my favorite but fine. Our air conditioning never really worked our entire 9 night trip. The room was so humid that the air was heavy to breath. This only caused an issue when we were trying to sleep for a few hours each night. Luckily we spent most of our time outside of the room. Friends ended up going to Walmart and buying fans for their rooms because it was so hot. We also had ants really bad in our room throughout the bathroom area. Our mini refrigerator also did not keep things cold at all. Tip the guy that restocks the mini fridge and he'll give you whatever you want, including mini milkyways lol

The inside of the resort is falling apart. Any time we went into the lobby people were throwing fits at the front desk about not having air, working water, or they were having flooding in their rooms. People that paid for upgraded ocean view rooms were not getting them even though they paid extra. The resort told one lady in front of us that she had to pay even more for one of those rooms even though she had already paid for the upgrade when she booked, and she had printed proof of it! Every floor had areas with leaking pipes and falling down drywall. The club "Kinky's" had a leak coming from one of the sets of stairs. The first night there they put a towel down, by our 9th night the leak still was not fixed and there was major flooding in the club, yet this was the only area to get together in resort and they left it open. The last night there Tony and a few guys noticed a strip of drywall tape coming down from the club ceiling, a few mins later a square of drywall fell down on one of the guests sitting on a bench against the wall. The second floor completely flooded due to a water pipe bursting, our friends luggage and all of their things got flooded and the resorts answer to this was "things happen."

Our last full day there the power was turned off by the resort and they ended up closing ALL the restaurants because of this during lunch time. There was NOTHING to eat in the entire resort and the plumbing stopped working during this time as well. They should have bused people to one of the other Grand Oasis resorts in Cancun for food during this time but they did nothing. Our group ended up going to downtown cancun to eat lunch and dinner this day.

The MC in Kinky's was amazing, and tells everyone to call him "Mi Amor". He was so friendly and outgoing and really the best part of the club. He made sure our group had everything we needed, chairs and tables every night we were there. He loved that we did the theme nights and it made people have more fun, as well as the fact we jumped on the stage and danced every night! The one night we asked management if they had a few more chairs seeing there were a lot of people left standing, they said no that they didnt have any for us. A few mins later Nelson comes up and sees the people standing and brings us over a whole stack of chairs. Funny how he could find some in a second and management said there werent any. He was hands down our favorite staff member there! Spent many nights dancing and having a good time with us! Also the nights he worked, the music was always WAY better!!

Thanks for the trip report it is similar to previous reports we have read. I guess we need to check this place off the list.

It is what it is but people make the fun, not the place. Glad you had an amazing time. Hopefully by the time drywall starts falling on people they prioritize a repair :) The whole place can collapse as far as I'm concerned provided it happens after July 2nd. We will be back to Tempatation for our annual trip after this one.

Oh it definitely was the people that made our trip amazing! If the resort fixed their plumbing and air conditioning issues it really wouldnt have been so bad. We still had a great vacation!!

It was great seeing you guys again! And we pretty much agree with your assessment, although we got lucky with our room. We paid for the Grand Plus and did get a room with a great view and balcony (the only one of us in our group of 3 other couples that got one), but our AC was borderline - never really got a decent night's sleep the entire time we were there.

We're actually going to TTR in October as we really didn't get our "fix" at Sens lol.

We're hoping to make it to TTR Memorial Day week again. Unfortunately for us we only get to vacation once a year. Was really good seeing you guys again as well! :) Hopefully we'll see you at TTR again!
