So we just settled down after an amazing trip at TTR. This was out first trip and def not out last. We have already been talking about returning this year. So I'll try not to make this too long. Check in/Transfer Services So we arrived extremely late (6 hrs) due to our plane (Mexicana Airlines) had some window issues but our transfer services USA Transfers to the hotel was still waiting. We did send some emails to the company that we would arrive late and USA Transfers had no problem with this. Everything was fine at the airport and we were impressed at how amazing this looked in comparison to other airports we have been to in Mexico. Finally got to the hotel and everything was going smooth and then they explained to us that APLHAROOMS had not sent TTR a confirmation of payment. we were very upset since we called a month before and 2 days before arrival to confirm that our reservations. We were even given a Temptations Confirmation number. we were then given access to the computers at site to print my payment email again and prove my ending balance. This was ok with the front desk and they explained to us that they would have to confirm. We were never bothered again with this. We later found out that this was done to a few other people arriving who could not confirm with the hotel and the travel agency they used. TTR then tried to explain to us what the resort is, what to do, things to see.. which we already knew because of Cancuncare and they were against this site. We defended cancuncare and explained to them that this is a great site for people to ask questions and stay connected. Room Well the room was great 5111, nothing big but we had the double shower heads with a nice window to see from the bed, very cute. This was perfect since we never spent any time in this but to sleep and change. The maids cleaned up well everyday, so we tipped them good. We did have an unexpected roommate our last day. Cute little baby Gecko that somehow made it to our closet. The wife (zookeeper) took him outside into a safe spot... she did this all week with different animals/insects/critters she would find. Theme Nights So we had planned to have themes almost everyday we were there but not a lot of people participated. Sexy black dress was everywhere the first night. Coco Bango... well this was amazing but everyone had so much fun at the resort its hard to leave. staying and partying or seeing Coco Bongo is a win/win thing, either one is good but we do recommend Coco Bongo. Jersey Night, only two of us dressed up and not any of the wives did. Everyone was hoping for more to dress up but we think people were nervous to be the only ones. The wife was bummed since she loved her outfit. but we still had a great time at night on Jersey Night. Many of us with a good amount of liquor in our system and skinny dipping in the ocean... to funny. We had to pay the security off to let us be. $20 each (2 of them). They would have left with $5 or $10 since i was naked and talking to each security inches away but i had alot to drink and i gave them the first thing i saw in my wallet. Sheer Night, never happen but we had fun with with a group we met at TTR. It was so much fun either way, again the wife was a little disappointed since she wanted to wear the outfit. lingerie Night, was a blast. Since this was an event sponsored by the resort everyone was involved. We had this party going all night and led to the stripper poles getting placed on stage and tons of people taking turns showing there moves. This was hot watching everyone try. Booze Cruise with TTR, was so much fun. Drinks were flowing all night and you never had a empty cup. Everyone had a great time. Some of us never made it to Senor Frog's since we had so much fun at Carlos and Charlies. TTR made this our own club. School Girl Night, now this was a hit since more people were involved. This night led to another amazing night at Nice Shoes bar. We danced for hours with friends we met from Cancuncare and others just form the resort Overall we think the events weren't as big since a lot of us did not know each other. The bigger the crowd that knows each other then we think the more successful the night themes turn out. TTR doesn't really need them but they are very fun when everyone does get involved. We'll see how the Aug group takes the theme nights this week. Chichen Itza On Tuesday we decided to go with the tour form TTR and this turned out to be a 13 hour day with only 2 hrs of Chichen Itza. They tried to sell more then actually being tour guide. We compared the guide to Mexico's version of the Oxyclean guy. As for the roads, they are very easy, there is no negotiating, and no twist and turns. We loved Chichen Itza and the Cenote but we could have rented a car and done this in 4 to 6 hours. Another couple we talked to during the tour said the same thing. So we would do this next time if we go to Chichen or Tulum. Coco Bongo Was amazing. Its Cancun's version of a Cirque de Soleil show. TTR had an awesome VIP section and the Mrs was brought up on center stage to dance. Which she really loved. Recommend doing this at least once on your trip. Isla Mujueres has amazing Caribbean waters. We took a ferry $15 (each) to Isla and rented a golf cart with friends we met at TTR. Did the whole island, wives went shopping, did some swimming on there excellent beaches. Recommend this instead of the snorkel trip. We hear TTR Tour only gives you an hour on the island. Hotel Restaurants are great and very top notch. Highly recommend the Italian and the lobster at the seafood restaurant. A most have is the Sexy Coffee (Mexican Coffee) very neat show displaying of making this. 3 of the 5 you cannot have open toes shoes or shorts just an FYI since we met others who did not know the dress code on this. Overall Trip So our trip was amazing and we never had any complications except for check-in. We met tons of friends from Cancuncare and others who weren't on the site but we recommended this to them. We wish all of them lived closer to us and we would def plan our next vacation with our new TTR friends. We believe the atmosphere and hotel environment really opened up people. You can be as fun, outgoing, and wild as you want. Like the hotel saids "Nobody knows you and no one gives a shit". This was our first trip and we are already thinking about going back this year. So for all of you we partied, danced, laughed, and drank with... you were all great and we wish all of you lived closer to go out and drink with. All of you are fun and this has been by far the best resort we have been too. this place is perfect for first timers exploring and go at there own pace. Have fun everyone. We'll be back if not this year then def next. C&D
Very nice report. Glad you guys had such great time because I could tell you very excited about going. Also glad you are planning on going back. It seems every time we go back we meet more and more people and have a better time than the last.
Thanks for the trip report, sounds like you had a fab trip. How busy was the resort? It's been quite quiet here recently and wondered if the resort was quiet too. Please could you say a little more about this? What did they say and who (i.e their job function not their name) said it? Feel free to send me a PM if you'd prefer not to discuss in public.
Hey Steve, the resort was quiet from Tuesday - Thursday and then the crowd started to pile in. Thurs - Sun was very fun at the bar and pool. i'll PM you on the rest.
