*~ Trip Report!! Feb 23 - 27 *~ OMG THIS IS A *LONGY* !!! :) :) :)

Greetings Cancuncare Friends! I’m finally getting around to writing my trip report! So sorry it’s taken so long – and I’ll try and not be tedious and boring so here goes!!!
Day 1 (Wed - 2/23)
Arrived in Cancun somewhere around 12:30 – made it to TTR around 2’ish I believe ? As usual the resort is so beautiful and welcoming and such a sight to see when you pull up ! This was our 2nd trip and it’s officially ‘home’ to us as far as we are concerned!
To begin, we had submitted that ‘express check in request’ on the website that was noted here somewhere … can’t remember exact post. And since this year (April) is my and my hubby’s 20th wedding anniversary I figured I’d smooze it up as much as possible and just request ‘nicely’ that we get as lovely as a room possible! (Keep in mind we already paid for oceanview – so at bare minimum that was supposed to be already in the bag …)
Walked to the check in desk, spoke to a lovely man named, “Fernando” – and asked if they had received my request ? Of course the answer was, “WHAT REQUEST ?” – so I’m really not sure where these requests are going – but apparently I’ve had others say that they’ve not been received either … but anyway – so I just said, “Aww .. well … we were hoping to get a really nice oceanview room because it’s our 20th anniversary that we are here celebrating and ya know … no biggie …” – apparently the stars lined up and smiled because his next words were, “Well I have a suite for you – and it’s actually ready now … it’s over by the quiet pool” … so here’s me: “Um … well … I REALLY like the sexy pool … um … can I LOOK at the room FIRST ?” – And he’s like, “Um … SURE YOU CAN!” … so we went over to look at the room – it was room 1140 – and after we picked up our teeth from the floor and RAN back to the check in – that was our HOME for the next 5 days …. Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE room! (I will add new pics here soon – and if you request me on Facebook – they are all up there: “Denise Willingham Smith” is my FB name). The room is very large, has a double sink bathroom with whirlpool tub (horror story about the tub to come in a bit …) – a nice couch, and a huge patio looking right at the ocean (i.e., OCEAN FRONT, not OCEANVIEW) … so we were most certainly *BLESSED* and I slipped Fernando a little tip when we went back to get our keys (even though I heard you weren’t supposed to do that – but I did and didn’t think there was anything wrong with that because I did it ‘after’) ! J
We then dropped our bags in the room and decided to go eat us some grub – I ordered the ‘lobster’ at the Magarita grill lunch place (not sure if they still call it Tex Mex or not ?) – and MAN OH MAN was that ever GOOD! Didn’t feel like donnin’ the swim attire so instead went and hung out at the Pool Bar and that was an absolute BLAST! Met some wonderful people right off the bat – Doug and his wife Heather – chatted it up some, enjoyed the drinks AND the sights then we decided to go back and unpack and get ready for the FUN OF THE EVENING with the “Naughty School Girl Nite” that our lovely board members here put together ….
Before changing for the evening’s fun events … went and played some ‘pool’ together in the sports bar that’s right by the nice shoes bar – and was that fun! Of course there were some people in there that couldn’t help but chuckle at how me and my lovely hubby are so stinkin’ competitive with everything .. he’d get a shot in – and I’d be like, “OH REAL NICE JERK” … and likewise when I’d get a shot in .. the verbal slams just continued away … very very much fun !!!! it was nice to make some fellow vacationers laugh a bit and they most certainly had to think we were NUTS for SURE!
Next it was off to change into the lovely school girl outfit … which to my surprise was MUCH shorter than pictured on the internet … so I figured – HEY – Imma wear LESS than THIS at the damn POOL so WHO CARES! It was a blast to say the least! Met some wonderful people to begin our adventure …. Kevin and Maya, Ken and Darcy, Nick and Sonia, Roxie, Jeff, Jenny Penny and a few others … what a fun time was had by ALL! We just drank, talked, snapped pics, danced – like you wouldn’t BELIEVE! And lemme tell ya this – the ‘bathroom’ that’s right there off of Paty’os and off the lobby is a most WONDERFUL place to chit-chat it up with both boys and girlies … the ‘sink area’ is a common area between the two bathrooms and it was so funny to be like in the bathroom talking, come out, still be talking, and the guys chime right in … hysterical !
Finished partying it up at Paty’os for night ‘1’ – then back to the room for fun and sleeeeepy …..
Day 2 (Thurs 2/24)
Got up mega early and decided to go and attempt ‘chair saving 101’ by the pool …. Figured everyone does it and the ‘new’ rules are you cannot put anything on the chairs until 6am – there are literally guards all around the pool area to keep you from putting anything on the chairs until that time … which is fine – no big deal … so got us two chairs and then back to the room to commence getting ready for pool day 101 and breakfast time … and OH YUMMY breakfast time – did I hear someone say, “MIMOSA?” … ohhh had to load WAY up on those … LOVE EM ….
About the breakfast buffet – never had any problems with any of the food at TTR – the breakfast buffet is great – omelets good – the fried potatoes TO DIE FOR – and everything else is pretty much just lovely! *ONE THING* -- OMG the SYRUP in Mexico is *DISGUSTING!* … I don’t know what the deal is – but it’s GROSS! Something to think about if you wanna pack ‘your own’ little bottle of Aunt Jemima – go RIGHT ahead! WOOOT!
So off to the pool – what a frickin’ blast and a half that is! SEXY POOL ROCKS! I’m not a beach or a sand person – per se – but I DO allocate ONE day to the damn beach where I sit BORED STIFF until it’s time to head back to the pool – I’ll get to that later ….
Everyone was having a blast around the pool, the games were cute, and we met a very wonderful friend named, Rob - he was just a riot! So sweet, so nice, so much fun! He hung with us and our friends Sonia and Nick pretty much the whole trip –what a great bunch of lifelong friends I felt we have met !!! J Had a blast with Jeff and Roxie and even though I’m “no prude” my girl Roxie helped me *lose the top* after a few hours of hanging by the pool having fun and ohhh the fun we had !!! J I’m not one to like be ‘embarrased’ or anything being topless – but sometimes ya know – I just like to keep the ol’ top on! HA HA! J Roxie has got to be one of the funnest people I’ve ever met in MY ENTIRE LIFE – that girl just loves to have fun – and there is NEVER a dull moment when she is around! LOVE HER !!! J
So after a fun filled day at the pool, and keep in mind Thursday is “lingerie / Casino Nite” – me and Bob had reservations at the “Asian Restaurant” – which is a very huge favorite – however its so small so making reservations of course is a must must must! And of course since we were only there a few days we had to get like a 9:30 or so reservation …. But ohhh yummy !
We ventured to Paty’Os for some drinkies before heading to dinner and hung a bit with our friends Roxie, Jeff, Kendra, Nick and Sonia … and were too tired to participate in the whole lingerie nite thing so we actually ate and then went and chilled at the room and just hung out on the patio of our room. We had great views of the Pirate Ships going out for the dinner cruises – we did that last year – and that is a MUST if you’ve never done it before – a great nite of entertainment … being on a REAL pirate ship – GREAT dinner – Oooh Funn! But since we had done that last year – we figured we’d skip it this time.
Day 3 (Friday – February 25)
We decided that today was *shopping* and *ocean day* … Keep in mind while I LOVE the ocean, I sorta hate sand …. But this sand is so beautiful so that’s always a nice plus … but while I love staring at the ocean … I have to say I get bored very very quick ! LOL ….. it was nice though that there seemed to be about 5,000,000 more chairs around the ocean this year than there was last year – that was very very nice! Not to mention we hung by the ‘quiet pool’ part of the ocean so we had that bar with easy access and also our room was basically right there as well ! So we began the day hitting the shopping scene …. Took the bus – great way to travel – and cheap … there’s really no where to walk to that’s worth anything other than ‘across the street’ so we went down to some market and it was great! Shopped in a few stores and actually went to this place where Coco Bongo’s is – and there’s a ‘Chili’s’ Restaurant in this mall as well – and *OMG* on the 2nd level – and *THIS IS A MUST SEE* - there is a ‘little hallway’ that leads to one of the most beautiful ocean views I’ve EVER EVER seen! I’ve got several pics of the water – the most gorgeous “BLUE” you can imagine! Now while I love Temptation – the ocean there is *NOT* all that blue … this place and I’m not sure if it’s a public beach or whatever – but OMG just gorgeous !!! So we stood there for a bit, took some pics, and back to shopping and then back to the resort!
On our busride back, there was a ‘blind’ man that stood up and spoke for about 4 or 5 minutes in Spanish (I thought he was probably ‘preaching’) – and then he started singing … very nice, very moving – so of course he then walked through the bus to ‘collect’ money – that was fine – we gave him some pesos or dollars cant remember – but that was different ….
Back to Temptation for *BEACH TIME!* - We sat there for about 2 hours I guess and then I said, “Hon – I can’t take it anymore – let’s hit the SEXY POOL!” – Bob agreed and off we went! We hung right at the pool bar and it was just fun fun fun! Lots of great music playing and we just chilled and met our friends Rob, Nick and Sonia and it’s here we met Roger and Mary – lovely couple FINALLY FROM SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN CANADA! HA HA HA! They were from Michigan !! And they are just absolutely *ADORABLE!* J
Later that evening, we had dinner at the Italian restaurant and that is as always – very good! And then we partied it up at Paty’os for the remainder of the evening with all our friends. I have to say that the *MUSIC* is just wonderful at Paty’os – what I really like is that it’s all *CURRENT* - and by current I mean all the pop / rap / or whatever songs that are playing *now* in the states – I’m glad they don’t play a lot of country or “oldies” … .cuz ya know … but considering that there are a lot of older people there (AND BELIEVE ME IM NOT YOUNG SPRING CHICKEN MYSELF) – but if I was like in my 50s or 60s I’d probably be a little disappointed with the music (but as I age I don’t intend to ever NOT listen to the current music!) HA HA! J
Day 4 (Sat – Feb 26)
Today found me up with the chickens *attempting* sunrise 101 pics …. And it was sadly a ‘no go’ – it was a cloudy morning and so while I was off to save our *pool chairs* I tried hard to get some pics – but it just didn’t happen … put all our stuff on our chairs, grabbed me a mimosa from the buffet and went back to the room to the sound of …. What seemed like someone with their shower on and their door open – alas – it was *ABSOLUTELY DOWNPOURING OUT!* … I was like, “OMG! My towels! My stuff! “ and I thought – OH WeLL – it will dry – or we can exchange our towels for dry ones when we get over there ….! Thank GOODNESS the lovely rain didn’t last long – not long as ALL – probably about 45 minutes tops? And keep in mind it was only like 7:30AM or so ….. so anyway – sun popped out – and off to the pool for our *FINAL DAY* at Temptation ….
What an AWESOME day! Had a ball with all our friends – Nick, Sonia, Roger, Mary, Rob, Jeff, Gordon, and this was Roxie’s last day – well believe me – she *ROCKED* the pool up until the last second it was time for her to leave – SOOO SAD to have seen her go … L Met Rachel and Dave and Ryan and Jess, - sure wish we coulda met them sooner – the last day is always so hard to meet new peeps and then have to leave …. So we all just hung out, drank, had a blast and then decided that we would all go to dinner together later that night at the ‘Seafood restaurant’ – which you before always had to have reservations – now apparently you don’t need reservations …. So ok – there was to be 8 of us so we figured that shouldn’t be too bad – but ohhh how wrong I was on that one! We decided to meet at around 8:30 – and we put our reservation in and were told it would probably be about an hour and a half for all of us to be seated at the one of two ‘big tables’ …. So ughhhhh – but hey I was cool with that – we hung by the quiet pool bar (which is right by the restaurant) and I figured the time would fly! So when we finally got seated – lemme tell ya that’s where the *not so fun* part began – I can’t even go into how LONG it took the waiter to even greet us – much less offer us any menus or drinks or whatever – and I have to sorrily say the service was 100% TERRIBLE! So bad that two of our friends actually left – and went to the buffet and the pool party – it just went from bad to worse – and we finally found out after dinner was over that they were apparently down a waiter or something? I noticed the entire restaurant was actually going ‘outside’ to the ‘pool bar’ for drinks – so service for the entire restaurant was gravely affected – but hey – I’m not gonna let that spoil my good time !!! Had a great lobster – actually couldn’t even finish it – but then it was off to the pool / DJ party (which keep in mind – that was a *NO SWIMMING* pool party …..
Partied it up like rockstars, saw security *bust* someone for *illegal drugs* - and from what I understand – I *thought* it was a no tolerance for drug use – as in – you pack your bags and are gone – so while we all thought that would be the case – the man ‘suddenly’ re-appeared about 20 minutes later to continue the partying adventure of the night … not sure how *that one* worked – but I’d say it may be safe to say that he was back with “a lot less money” than he had come with …..! We saw *everything* - the security guy approached him – everyone OBVIOUSLY smelled it – he “took” the “said infraction” OUT of his hand …… - so it’s not like, “Oh it was a mistake ….” – there was definitely some *foul play* involved with that one … but hey – that’s alright! To each his own!!!!
So we ended the night with saying goodbye to all our friends – and hoped to see them in the morning before we left – but of course no guarantees because I wouldn’t blame them for sleeping in and we had to be OUT THE DOOR by 10:30AM sharp! Sigh …. L
Day 5 (FINAL DAY – Feb 27 – Sun)
Got up at the butt crack of dawn to capture the sunrise - *SUCCESS* - I took about a BILLION pics of the sun coming right out of the water – and oh how gorgeous those pics turned out!
Went had breakfast, grabbed some mimosas – finished packing up our luggage and out the door to take some last minute pics by the beach and visit with whatever friends we could find that were up, out and about! Got to tell Gordon, Jeff, Rob, Nick and Sonia good bye – did all the email / facebook etc exchanges – and then sadly our stay had ended … it was OFF to the airport … L
Safe flight home – back to reality – and BOY does that suck …. Now all we have is our pictures, our memories, and a little less than a year til we can DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!! J J J

I must say that was a very informative trip report. Enjoyed it very much. Plan on coming in May and you will love it even more...

Can't believe we never met you when there as our whole trip overlapped yours, I know we have a school girl night group photo that I think you are in. You meet so many people here, that pretty soon you have to cry "UNCLE!" Glad you had a great trip and hopefully we will run into you next year, same time?

YIPPEE! I'm glad you are all enjoying my 'long-windedness'! LOL I really wanted to put the entire 'feel' of the trip into 'words' - and I'm USUALLY very good at that! HA HA!

FFTO - OMG would *LOVE* to go in May! Dont think we can pull that off though (we have a cruise already booked with the fam for November ....) .... but hey - it's a THOUGHT - I can always see what kind of fabulous deals are out there ?!?!?!?

Jeff / Janet - OMG I cant believe we didnt meet EITHER! And yes I was doing the 'school gir nite' thingy and had a 'couple of group shots' ..... too funny - it's not like the resort is that huge - but sometimes you just 'never cross paths' ... aww .. *NEXT TIME* for sure ! We are "maybe" going to go back in 12' the last week of Feb - but we just "may" opt for the end of March so it will be mega warmer and the kids will be on spring break - haven't decided yet ... ????!!!

DONNACHA!!! Just got your FB Friend Request - oh check out all my pics of the room - you will be *VERY VERY VERY happy!* -- just remember 1st or 2nd floor for that end building as the 3rd floors *do not* have balconies - just big windows that open up ..... !! I think you can see that from some of my pics of the building ... I took a BILLION!

NTP - I hear ya - typing it all up (finally) - made me feel the exact same way - I WANNA GO BACK RIGHT NOW !!! Let's all keep playing the LOTTO !!!
