I will start with the same general info as the first trip report you can find last year report here : http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/14029-need-temptation-coach-es.html We arrived at Temptation in the afternoon on December 9 for 10 nights. If anyone was there at the same time I’d guess the best way to describe us is we we’re dancing, like always ! The checking was quite easy. Citlali recognized me right away (our 3rd trip). We we’re suppose to have the first night in a Jacuzzi room (like our first trip) and 9 nights in a garden room (like the second trip last may for which there is no report). We we’re quite happy with our package. That being said, before leaving, monetary speaking, things turned for the best, and we decided to offer ourselves an upgrade. Quick comment about the upgrade. I did my research on the internet and with the help of Citlali, we book for a 7 day drops of love and we we’re in a Temptation suite for the whole 10 days. In suite 1201,The ocean view was fantastic and we could even see it from our large window door, lying in our bed. The upgrade, included a romantic dinner (lobster) by the beach (we had ours in our room, with as great a service, because it was way too cold outside, overall in term of weather, we had 7 nice days and 3 colder with not much sun). It also included a bath of rose’s, a massage, daily artistic chocolate dessert, and a concierge service. Is it worth the price ? Money doesn’t have the same value for everyone. But in term of Temptation$ I would say this. If the question was would you rather have 2 weeks or even 10 days in a garden room or 7 in the drop of loves, I like Temptation that much that I’d rather be there longer wherever I stay. But if it doesn’t change the time you’ll be there and the extra $ won’t hurt your finance that much go for it. It just make paradise still a little better ! Back to the hotel itself. The first stop after our room was to the buffet. Lucio recognize us right away. Either with Lucio, Martial, Javier, Victor, etc… we had again a great service at all time. Actually the service was better than excellent everywhere. Israël at Paty’o was particularly helpful and went out of his way, either serving me a Burger when Santos was absent or bringing me paper towels when I did not asked for it. That being said, while the service is always excellent, you can help yourself get the little extra. Tipping is always a good start (you have enough money to go to Temptation for 7 days, they need to work there for 6, do the math, that couple of bucks won’t kill you). The second trick is more complicated but probably as useful. Talk to them and as much as possible speak a little Spanish. On that point since my girlfriend speak Spanish and I personally started learning 3 months ago (method call assimil, disc and book) we we’re able to talk to them, Israël, Martial, Jose (I eat with him by myself at a lunch and he was quite happy to help me with my Spanish), that also help make the trip more fantastic, we felt like a king and a queen, surrounded by friends, at all time. After that first visit at the buffet, home sweet home, Temptation was like when we left it. First night, lingerie night (we have two of them during the 10 days . New rule, you have to be in lingerie or pj’s to get in (I loved it) and no picture (even better). Women dress as they want and men in shorts no shirt. Men could not get in with string or short too thight, but you could change later and get in unnoticed. I saw only one asshole trying to sneak in to take pictures later on at night, I went from the dance floor right in his face at the door (not sure my feet touched the floor during the travel), telling him nicely but firmly that picture we’re not allowed there. For the rest, In general the days and nights activities, looked the same I remembered them. We we’re always dancing, at Paty’o, in nice shoes, at the pool on DJ days but also any other day anyway. Around the pool we made a lot of dancing friend. People stopped by for a little move or stick there to dance with us. We we’re not part of « a group » but always had people dancing and having fun with us. The only part not as agreeable was a guy trying to « dance » (he was hammered) with us and especially with the girlfriend. My girlfriend knows how to handle those guys but it could make some ladies uncomfortable. On that point, there seems to be way more single guys than girls, and with too high expectation in terms of sex activities. According to a couple of single guys there, you could not really talk to a single girl more then a couple of minute without a bunch of other guys coming over for no reason. There was also a guy who left his girlfriend to « talk with mine » , to « protect her» from being harassed (was funny considering they did not speak the same language). Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with singles, most are ok. I think the problem is probably group of singles booking together. Not only those makes the men-women ratio too high, but at some time, later at night, those groups kind of « took control » of Paty’o and I did not feel as much as home as I use to at Temptation. For newbies make sure you understand it’s not a sex safary (I would even say that for single guy, your chances are not any better than at any other resort elsewhere), but the little sexual feeling floating around make it exquisite when you fit in. Like every time at Temptation, we came back thinking, that was the best trip ever !
We are now back from the February 26 to March 5, 2011 trip. Lucky us, our fourth one in the last 14 months! It will look like my last trip report because paradise can't change much over a 2 months period ! We arrived at Temptation in the afternoon on February 26 for 7 nights. If anyone was there at the same time I’d guess the best way to describe us is we were dancing, always ! The check in was quite easy. Arthuro recognized me right away (I spent some time taking with him the last trip, practicing me espanol). As much for him as for my girlfriend and for myself before anything else I had to go with my usual “home sweet home” call ! We had a garden view room on the sexy pool side. The room was better than a regular one, but I did not like the location at all. That being said, before leaving, monetary speaking, things turned for the best, and we decided to offer ourselves an upgrade. The next day we got our drop of love upgrade. I got an interesting price from el director Mauro, better than the day before with la directora Daniela (both are very nice person), which make some sense since it was for 1 less day. We had a Jacuzzi and the location was perfect. Last building behind the quiet pool, first one on the side where everyone from that building had to pass. Spend the whole week saying hi and hola to everybody. Was partcicularly fun when people were looking at us in our bath of roses (exactly like the picture in the drop of love publicity). This time we had the romantic dinner on the beach. Was very good but not as picture perfect as we wished. We saw a couple getting there’s on their balcony and it’s probably what we will go for next time. Since we had also unlimited access to reservation restaurant and we could directly make them with el director/la directora which mean no line up at 10 am (included in drop of love) we went twice to the Village Wok (It’s not Daniele at the reception anymore its now Yazmine, who’s just as nice) and twice to the Il PIacere (Those are now the only 2 that need reservations). The buffet. The minute we step the feet in, one of the gang, Lucio, Martial, Javier, Jesus, Franscisco, Frederico, Victor, and some others I forget… welcome us with a loud Sylvia (the girlfriend name) and right away offer us a table and dos vino blanco ! Muchas gracias amigos. As always, we had again a better than great service at all time. Considering the girlfriend speak Spanish and my Spanish is getting a little better, we were bless with the opportunity to talk with them a lot in their language which I believed create an even better bound (it helps that we breakfast late, it is the rare time they are not as much in a hurry to serve us all). Was fun making jokes in Spanish with them. That being said, while the service is always excellent, you can help yourself get the little extra. We had the chance to dance with him on lingerie night. Just think about it this way, while people here back home were fighting a couple of foot of snow, we were in Temptation dancing with the “queen bee”, can life get any better than this !
Great report(s)! Excellent point about at least trying to converse in spanish - when you make the effort, so do they. (Plus you're learning something) We've travelled all through the Carribean, and the effort to speak spanish has always paid off ten-fold. Less than 5 weeks until trip #3. Heather & Lyle
We are back again, 6th times in 2 years. We we're there december 15-22, 2011. While my other trips reports tell already my view of the place, this one will be more about some recent change we saw. On arrival, since we arrived late most of the usual staff were not there and a new directora was there, Daniela seems gone and Mauro was there quite often the rest of the week. I talked with him a couple of times during the week. As always very symphatic. The girlfriend and I we're actually shocked (not in a bad way) when he came to talk to us a little at Paty'o dressed with a suit and tie (that was the first time i saw him without the official suit). Arriving just in times for the lingerie night and I mean we arrive at the Hotel the casino was already open, we made it quick enough to profit of that night (ain't that long to "dress" lightly). We had 8 days and 2 lingerie night A big personel change at the nice shoe bar. The former barman, Oscar is now working at the bar in the asian restaurant. Got a little spanish practising chat with him and he told me he prefer that new job. I like Oscar and since the girlfriend and I usually close the dance floor and the bar at nice shoes he knows me well and always remember our drinks (when he was at nice shoes I was sometimes almost ashamed to see my drinks arrive when i did not say anything and was standing in second row). Oscar's replacement is Tiger "I don't speak english" formerly from the sexy pool. He also recognize me rapidly and serve me very well as always. Our room was 1124, the third closest from nice shoes (we already had the 1122, closest to nice shoes on a previous trip), so i was continually passing the sports bar and had the chance to talk to him often since its not that busy a some point. He was not the most happy with that move. In terms of hours and business it's not as interesting a job I would guess. While Tiger was always good the staff at the pool we're still also good, and while it seemed weird to not see Tiger for repeaters, new comers did not feel any difference. Hope it turns out for the best for him. At the Buffet, Lucio, Franscisco, Javier were still there, nice as always. The minute we walk in, the first one of them around call the girlfriend's name and the vino blanco is already on its way. We make efforts the go in everyone's sections once in a while to catch up with all of them. Lucio has been the one we known for the longest we picked is section the last day. When I explain to Adrian, the supervisor, that we picked Lucio because he was the best looking of the waiters, he turn to the girlfriend with a funny face. Adrian was actually also very nice, and since the girlfriend speaks spanish (she has killer legs that seemed to also help , he talk to to us a lot and was a lot of fun. We also have been served regularly by Rudy, a bigger guy than most of the other at the buffet, he use to work in a la carte. Also at the buffet, Isis is not there as often (still talked with her a little) her replacement, Leysi is as very nice and was also patient when I used her as spanish teachers. Also met Santos regularly, he was not at the Paty'o night shift but mostly working in the kitchen daytime. I think he liked the Paty'o better. Talking of a la carte, we have been 3 times to the Italian (it now have spaghetti and lasagne which makes it more italian to me then before) and 2 times to the asian restaurant. About the menu, there are a couple of new things and some meal are now reserved for Members (not a big deal). The service was perfect as always by every waiter that served us. While the waiters are very busy we had more times to talk to both hostess. Jelene at the Italian was very funny trying to talk to us in french (there were a lot more french speaking person than on precious trip) and actually on one night she came to ask if we could write her some lines to receive people in french. We took her spanish version and wrote her (and made her practice a little) her 5 openings sentence. I also showed her the symbol of the Montreal Canadian Hockey team (for those not use to hockey, think New York Yankees or Dallas Cowboys), since a lot of quebecers over there have, shirt, cap, one even have the tatto with the symbol i told her that a "Go Habs Go" (habs is the knickname) will make an instant killer. As for Yazmine which i volontarily pronounce Yazming at the Asian restaurant it was more than pleasant to see her again, hogging and kissing both of us and telling us that Daniel who was in some previous trip sent back the little Hola she transmitted in our name the last time. Martial, the one we are probably closer to, now work mostly at the asian and bellavista restaurant. While we have not been ever in the same restaurant he was at anytime we still manage to talk to him a couple of times. He was very happy with the change since he is now a new father and the new job seemed more adapted to his needs. There were quite a lot of personnel movement. I don't know if management ideas is to rotate more or if those are definitive. I sincerely hope that each one of them, that we like deeply, find happiness. Now about the entertianment crew. Chinos is not there anymore and of course it worried us a little (maybe a lot). I had the chance to meet Brenda who's one of the main cast person ( I did not recall seeing her on the other trips) on the first day at the pool. There were 2 participants for the Iron man and needed one more. Since I had won it on my first trip, I told Jose i could be the third participants if nobody else shows up, he than took me to Brenda reiterating my offer but making sure she also understood that, like the expression goes "been there done that". For the record i won and did not have to work for extra points. During the whole week Brenda and the rest of the crew did an excellent job even in front a of crowd not as participative as what we saw on previous trips. She also had to deal with a guy way too drunk or else. After she correctly took care of him in a correct and funny way with the micro, the security took him apart for a little talk ). The next day a sign appeared at the pool bar talking about to refuse a drink to someone who add enough (can't remember seeing that sign before). While we missed Chinos whom we like a lot, even without him the crew gave us good entertainment. We saw Chinos on the friday we were leaving, he was friendly as always, but could not talk a lot with him cause all others repeaters righfully wanted there little chat too. A couple of game were not there, daring darts as example, but it was on the board and there were no willing participants. Not the crew's fault, it wasn't the most participating crowd we saw in Temptation. Turning to the guest, there were a lot more youngster that usual. Way too much actually. Don't get me wrong, most are as nice as the older one, but they don't participate much in the day activities (recuperating from previous night is my guess), but even more disturbing, is that most of them we're out to town every night leaving the resort and paty'o about half as pack i what we were used to. That cooled down the party, either by the pool, at the nice shoes or Paty'o since there we're few dancers on the dance floor. Actually, there were so few that we new in advance who would be dancing where the party is supposed to be. If they are here, i salute them even if we did not talk that much. There was us, the tall redhair women and her husband, a black couple and a chinese one plus another couple almost always wearing leather, and some accessories that goes with it, they were hard to miss. Add a couple of girls who joined us sometimes and you have the entire dance floor for the whole week. Don't get me wrong, most people don't wanna dance and its ok, but i'm sure even those who don't dance prefer to see a more active dance floor, it usually brings an even better ambiance. Problem was with the number a younger people leaving the resort every night, it made it a lot more difficult to get the things going. While the resort has to take the clients it gets to survive and prosper, at some point in the future, if the younger people take over, the older one might not feel as mcuh appeal as they used too. Making it 25 years old minimum (make an exception for repeaters if you want, or start at 22 and go up from there), if it could financially be viable for the hotel, would be a big plus from my point of view. Don't get me wrong here, i would go bact to Temptations as it is tomorrow if I could, and its not yet a big deal, but that could become a bigger problem, and i'm a little scared at the thought the place i call "home sweet home" could lose some magic.
we went to the lingerie night and there was a great many persons in normal attire ie jeans and t shirt some men in swimming trunks and some women in a dress most of which were not even sexy come on Temptation enforce some sensible rules,also on several nights they would shut a restaurant for the night for a private function wedding party etc on at least one night they also shut the nice shoes bar for a wedding party
