Im sure this topic has been covered but i was wondering how many ppl buy trip insurance.

We have never purchased it before until very recently when we went on the Bliss Cruise. It just seemed to make sense because of the many things that could go wrong with a cruise vacation. I am now booking a trip to TTR on Orbitz and they offer the insurance for $150.

My thoughts are that it is not alot of money for peace of mind.

    Thoughts?

Medical is my only concern , it is expensive for medical care in Mexico if you are from the USA and most USA Insurance companys won't pay.

The resort and airline generally help but it is not a written rule.

Tim, thats exactly what im thinking about. When we were on the cruise a poor fellow had to be air lifted off the boat due to a heart attack. I hope he had the insurance.

I am not worried about missing a plane, but god forbid I slip on the wet tile and split my head open.

I think i just made up my mind. Thanks.

We have never bought trip insurance by choice on our 20+ trips but ALWAYS buy medical. From here it only costs us $30Can? one trip my hubby had to go to the HOPITAL because of food/water poisoning. The treatment was great but cost $800 for everything. Well worth the money. Last year we had an unexpected death in our family on day 2 and had to fly home. Of all the trips we never thought we would ever have to deal with that. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring

Please read "my story" posted on 7/24/15 by Californiagirl. I think her story will help you make up your mind.

If you travel more then 1 time a year get a yearly policy.

we pay $100@ year pp covers all trips for the year

$2,000,000 medical , interruption,, luggage ect ,, covers as many trips as yhou take, but no trip can be over 17 days.

Some travel cc also have Basic policies attached to them

ALL policies will have a pre-existing condition clause attached to them.

So basically if you have,, ie ,, a heart condition,, you must disclose this and pay the premium to be covered.,,

a lot of people don't read them and think they are covered.

a lot of Mexican health places require payment up front, you then get re-imbursed from your insurance company.

I am always very surprised that anyone would travel anywhere without medical insurance.

Over the last couple of years we have starting with travel insurance and for the price and piece of mind feel it's well worth it. We buy from GEOBLUE and the cost has been around $50.00 also very important for me is they are a partner with the best hospital in Cancun, Galenia hospital. Never go anywhere else. It comes highly recommend by Steve.
