Anyone have a favorite place to get it? I was trying to decide if it would be worth it for our October trip. We got in on the alpharooms deal so the total trip cost for the two of us is only 1k with airfare, but if we were to have to rebook it for another later time the price would jump up a good bit. Anyone know if they cover to the replacement cost of the trip or just the expenses you actually paid.

Searching around on the internet for it, it seems that it varies greatly and all the comparison sites are just getting kickbacks and pushing to one brand or another.

Anyone ever actually had to use it?

I'm in the military and used USAA for trip insurance and the price was low. I also paid my vacation with alpharooms using my American Express and they also offer a very competitive rate to online rates......so not sure what credit card you used if any but if so they might offer a good rate....me personally the insurance is worth it.

Over here in the UK we always use Travelweb insurance which is recommended by Which magazine. They have paid out on a delayed flight home from Barbados where we actually got another day in paradise. Cover for our trip to TTR is £37 which im guessing is about $55 US ??

Don't fool around with discount places, pay a bit extra and go with a reputable dealer.
I got travel insurance from my banking institution, and got a years coverage for just a bit more then what it would have cost for a single trip from elsewhere. Premium credit cards offer some coverage but read the fine print. Most companies do not cover pre-existing conditions.

Being premier members, we always book our room and air separetly and for the last several trips, I buy the insurance for the airfare. With continental it is really reasonible, but we've never actually had to use it. Try checking out the insurace thru you air carrier. We also booked alpha rooms for this Oct trip instead of the premier membership and I did notice that you could get their insurance. Maybe you could add it on. Not sure if it would be too late tho

I believe I read on here if you live in the U.S. alpharooms insurance does not apply, that is why I purchased a separate insurance to cover my alpharoom purchase.
