Hmm, quite excessive, 120 quid for an extra bag but then again, a 'normal' holidaymaker would ever only have 1 anyway (+ your handbag or whatnot as hand luggage). I think Ryanair (cheapo flight carrier in the UK & Ireland) charges for anything checked in now, 5 quid a bag or something.
Starting today Spirit Airlines is only allowing 1 50lb bag free of charge, your 2nd bad will cost $10, and a 3rd will cost $100. Spirit's cheap fares might not be all that cheap after all.
well, we always take our scuba gear...but luckily we have one of the huge bags that doubles as a suitcase as well....but we are usually at about 55lbs, never gave us a second look before. So far the airlines we fly hasn't said they are charging more....hopefully they won't!
Each seat on the aeroplane should be a fixed price, then the person and their baggage should be weighed and then charged by the pound. What astounds me is people that load their luggage up with brand new large bottles of shampoo and crap. The amount of extra weight being carried around in products that don't get distributed normally via air freight due to their weight, is astounding.
Not to mention that their service SUCKS!!! Won't ever fly with them again....not even for free. Michelle
