First time traveling to Cancun...will be staying in the Cancun Hotel Zone. I saw the info about how to book hotel transfers ahead of time in the other posts. Is that the best way to go? I wouldn't mind spending a little extra to avoid the headache of trying to figure out how to get to the hotel once we arrive but am wondering if it's worth the trouble of booking in advance. I've heard that the hotel we're staying in, Barcelo Tucancun doesn't arrange transfers. Any advice?
Spend the $55 and use the private round trip transfer from Entertainment Plus. Just click the Banner at the bottom of the page, and then click 'airport transfers'. I always use it, and so do many Cancun regulars.
Most of the Cancun Vets use the private transfer option as DConCT mentioned. Last thing you want to do is be delayed geting from the airport to your hotel. It's only $55 return. Try a forum search for "USA Transfers" and you'll find reports of other members experiences
private shuttle!! Book it and they will have a sign with your name on it right outside the doors of the airport. Hop in a private van or air conditioned car and you are on your way. Can't beat it.
Oribitz and Expedia will offer shuttles vouchers but they are NOT private. You have to wait at the airport for the van to fill-up. When leaving at the end of your trip, the van will drive to different hotels on the route back to pick-up others. I Almost missed a flight back because of this. I think the shuttle voucher was $35, but $20 extra for a private shuttle is worth every penny.
Entertainment Plus has a great reputation. However, we have used Cancun Valet. Love the Entertainment card...
