traveling alone safe?

    First time post , I ve have visited Cancun 3 times now , stay at the Royal Sands , i love it,. I always have traveled with friends but this year can not get anyone to come with me(imagine that). Having lived in Paraguay for 2 years and Colombia for one I speak Spanish ok .my Question is it safe to visit Cancun alone,I like to wander from the hotel and tourist zone,eat and shop in El centro. last year found a great place to eat fish in puerto Juarez right on the beach definetly a locals only place , Ill be visiting 2nd week in sept, is it safe to travel alone thanks jim

    The short answer is yes if you use common sense. Like don't try to score dope, don't walk down dark streets in the middle of the night, etc.

    I have always found Cancun to be a very safe area for anywhere a tourist would likely go, and that includes roaming around downtown. There are areas I choose not to go on foot at night, but there is no reason for me to go there anyway if I don't know the area. I go anywhere during the day.
