Anybody else noticed disappearing garbage pick up? We usually get six day a week service, here, but there's been none in the last five days, and things are seriously starting to back up. Is something going on that I haven't heard about?

We had a plastic dumpster that got ripped open by the scavengers continually tipping it over to get their grubby paws into it. It became unbearable and I went to the hinterlands to see what could be done. They had zero available but I was promissed 4 55 gallon style drums "in a few days." Well, they came that afternoon. All went well for months, then 4 became 3, then 2 and now 1. Wishful thinking I suppose to think anyone on the trash pickup side, or a neighbor or the president of the SM to do anything proactive and get it handled.

We use the same service in Puerto Morelos and said service has been going downhill the last year or two. I tried writing to the email address on the trucks (it's a company out of Monterrey) but I got nowhere.

I live on a caul-de-sac and skipping it is easier than backing in.

We used to have local guys and they were pretty good.

Sounds like we normally have it better than you guys, but now it's just stopped. Is there a strike or something going on that we haven't heard about?

We have had one pick up since last Friday....I think it was on Tuesday. Not sure what's going on, but this was the first time since October we didn't have it atleast 5 days a week.

We have a small trash-mountain ourselves, but not as bad as the rest of you... (Well, not yet anyways...)

Last pickup was this Tuesday if I remember correctly...

Although, it doesnt take many hours for the sun to create an all but pleasant scent... :icon_rolleyes:

Oh, cant forget the small but oh so important progress: The other half of our park has lights at night again - it only took them some 5 months to "fix"(yes, electrical tape, string etc.)
Good stuff - happy times !! :partytime:

We've noticed the same thing in our hood. The truck is coming less and less often, and, I think, has only come once in the last 5 or 6 days (it came last night at midnight). We are recycling so much of our waste that we aren't piling up much garbage these days, so once a week would actually be fine if we could predict when the truck would come.

When Chacho was President Municipal the garbage truck would come every day at 3 pm on the nose, I could set my watch by that truck then.

But under this Mayor the garbage service has gotten worse and worse. And most of the time the truck comes in the middle of the night and wakes up the whole street. Hechos, No Palabras...my butt.

Thanks, Life. Looks like the issues mentioned in the article are now settled, as the trucks were rolling, again, in our neighborhood, early this AM.

I live in Tikal, and last month trash was picked up every night. In the last few weeks, it's only once or twice a week.

I wish they had weekly pickup, along with large garbage bins to hold the week's trash then leave it by the curb to be picked up. (That's what they did in Virginia) Then maybe the obnoxious cats would stop ripping my bags open.
