I just read that the city of Cancun is bankrupt. Guess that explains why the trash hasnt been picked up in over a week. Does anyone know where the dump is located so I can take our HUGE mountain of trash. The flies and maggots are outta control!
Wow, that's awesome. A small city with massive amounts of cash coming in has gone bankrupt. It takes some really special people to pull that off. Sorry Trina, can't tell ya where the dump is If you have a garden, sounds like now's the time to start your compost pile haha
And don't forget the many possibilities in "trash art" erected in your garden! We could organize a city wide contest focusing on the best creations from bottles and cans (I suppose the OP's got an ample supply!) It appears that an "army" of Mexican Federal Government auditors has descended on Cancun to find out what happened to the money: some are saying possibly as much as 800 million pesos are missing in total ("Por Esto" today's edition) A lot could have been done with that money to improve the streets and lanes in the neighborhoods of Cancun which are among the worst I've seen anywhere in the world The Crook in Chief is in jail but he's bound to have had a lot of assistance from others: the head of the City sports program is also "caught in the headlights" now- with large sums missing from his department as well However we've still got trash pickup in our neighborhood and the City was mowing our park today __________________
Here's an article in Spanish on the city's financial situation... very fishy (first half is about Cancun, second half is about Cuba & Puerto Rico) Crece amenaza cubana:Cancún, paraÃso estafado y en quiebra. «
Nope couldn't do it.... I think its time for the shiny car test... anyone on the city payroll with a shiny, expensive car needs to be checked out... I expect that the Fed's will come in with some cash to at least keep the tourist areas clean since its such a big revenue generator, the areas less frequented might have to organize their own trash collections and maintenance thou... 800 million pesos seems a lot higher than the normal level of yearly stealing that goes on... so they may actually take it seriously... Ever since Greg was elected people have been wondering what he was doing to repay the millions of his own money that he spent to get himself elected to a job that only pays ~50,000usd or so a year.. so maybe he did manage to move money and we're just now finding out... just makes you wonder how much he could have gotten at the state level had he won the governorship. Assuming of'course that this is his doing.. which I can't be sure of...
Trash pickup today!!! Thank goodness! White trucks, not the green ones. Workers said the company with the green trucks doesn't have the contract anymore. Not sure what else is going on behind the scenes or how accurate that is, but I am happy!
Trash truck came yesterday evening. It was the old city trucks not the normal green ones. I was helping them load all the trash and took the guys some water and asked them what was up with the trash. The guys said that the green trucks were not being paid so they stopped. I sure hope we get pick more than once a week. We normally had trash pick everyday.
