After going hard in Cancun Temptations last year Manon and I decided to try Temptations Los Cabos this year. We met many great people again and went as hard as we could, which was 11 or the 12 days we were there. I will comment on our stay and not belabour with a day by day as they eventually start blending together. The main pool was great and the water temperature was warm the first day, but the heater went south and from then the pool was cool and only the hardy spent any time in the water. Most went up to the hot tub which in my opinion is the highlight of this resort, besides the people. You could spend all afternoon, evening, and night in there and not be uncomfortable. The bar staff up there is fantastic and the view is incredible. We finished off most of our nights lounging there and chatting with others. I do not remember what time but the bar staff announced last call so if we wanted to stay later we just ordered a bunch of rounds and were good well after they shut down. On the way down from the hot tub we stopped by the pool restaurant for some food then off to bed. The Melange bar is fun and have a nice fire going in the middle to keep everyone warm if the wind was blowing, as it made it a bit chilly later on. The live band plays good tunes and even let a couple of our friends get up there and jam with them, go Casey. The dj music could have been a bit better though but tried hard to keep us on the dance floor. The disco rocks on a Sat. nite as the strippers come and we spent 2 hours dancing after both times we were there. Beach volleyball was fun and always well attended. Can, Anthony, Ceasar, Kimmy, and Angie were great entertainers and participated in most of the events as well. A new girl showed up before we left, Crystal, and she will fit in well with the entertainer group. The food was good and we had a lot of variety even if only 2 or the 3 were open each night. I have 2 comments for Suki's. First it would be great if you could reserve to sit by the back tables and watch the chef cook right in front of you. We went several times to try and seat there but had no luck with the timing. Second, we loved the general seating aspect as we could sit on the big tables and have other couples sit with us, thus meeting many people we normally would not have talked to and looked forward to meeting different groups as we went. We rented a car one day and drove to Todos Santos and had lunch at the "original" Hotel California, a definite highlight. We then went to Cabo San Lucas and spent the day walking the town and beaches. On another day we went Dune Buggying and what a wild ride that is. Temptations does have one off-site bar that they go to and it is called Reds and is across the street from the hotel, it was rocking, cannot remember the night, think it was Thurs.? Tip, on Wednesday night before the lingerie show watch Kimmy do her pole dance... I'll never be the same!!! We will miss some people but want to say thanks to the staff, they all rocked, the Minnesota group with Mellisa and Dave, the Oregon group with Jason who helped us win the horse shoe tossing, Casey from Cleveland, the Rocky Mtn house group, Franco, Mike, and Nadia from Montreal, the Polish volleyball player whose name i could never understand but will not forget those vodka shooters, and all the visitors who make Temptations such a great experience. The difference btwn Cancun and Los Cabos are as observed. 400 rooms in C and 149 in Los, less people. No need to reserve at the restaurants and no line ups to get in. If your drinking by the pool you can get drinks at the pool bar or the beach bar, both are convenient. You cannot swim in the ocean, and jogging on the beach in Los is tough. Drinking and partying is a little bit crazier in C but as many attest, its not the number of people but the quality, and both resorts are above standards for sure. We participated as a couple much more in Los as Manon was a bit intimidated in C, this resulted in much fun and a "best couple" title as well. Hot tub is great and wish Cancun would set one up. We will go back to Los Cabos and Cancun Temptations for sure, it brings vacationing to a new level. Thx for reading.
thanks so much for the trip report as i don't see that many on here t and i are definitely going in april 2011 will book within the next three to four months - when the deal is right again thanks for taking the time to do the tr rob
Good to see a new TR. We're heading down to CABO in June and updated info is much appreciated. Although not the same as Cancun, TR-Cabo sounds like a fun time with some different options such as the jacuzzi. Looking forward to that. :icon_biggrin:
Will do. We could use a little more up-to-date info here. It seems that those who venture down to CABO seem to be happy with their trip.
especially those in the last several months at first i think there may have been some confusion over the resorts identity and the reports were all over the board (from this place sucks to this place is awesome) i think now that it has established itself as Temptation the reviews and friends are all yelling at me "this place is awesome" really looking forward to it as it looks like a place where you can feel equally comfortable partying hard (see TTR cancun for the past 5 years lol) or just taking it easy (i am getting older lol) ive never been able to "take a day off" in cancun without feeling quilty but it looks like here ---------no problem the best of both worlds - vacation and party rob
Great trip report,we,y wife and I have been to TTR Cabo twice soon to be 3 times in July.We love the place and can't wait to get back!!
Rob, "at first i think there may have been some confusion over the resorts identity and the reports were all over the board (from this place sucks to this place is awesome)" You are right on. When original resorts purchased the property a few years back, they had visions of making it another clothing optional, lifestyle (swinger) friendly resort like Desire Cancun. After opening as Desire cancun, the occupancy rate never really picked up. One of the big reasons was the lack of a clothing optional beach like Desire Cancun had. Original resorts had just shelled out tons of money refurbishing Desire (after the hurricane) and remodeling Desire Cabo for it's grand opening. They needed to make more revenue. Patricia ( the owner of Original resorts) decided to start allowing singles into the resort and changed the format to topless optional. This threw another curveball. You had the lifestyle/nudist crowd who were just discovering this resort taking another look and saying "no thanks". So it was going thru an identity crisis. The occupancy rates after the switchover to Temptation were very low for the first 6 months, averaging about 30%......they were only opening 1 restaurant a night, staff was cut back and services were scaled back as well. As time went on, the word got out. The resort is now picking up and the occupancy rates over the last few months have been 60% plus. They are still catering to the lifestyle groups by hosting a couple of "Desire Weeks" a year. So it looks like Temptation Cabo is getting thru it's growing pains. Dave
Excellent trip report..sounds like a nice place with the right mix of friends it could be a good place. I like the idea of the late night hot tubs and the fire pit as i know there are several from both april groups that play instruments, would be nice to sit around relax and listen to people perform.Almost reminds me of being at home but away far away from home.lol
