April 30 - May 1: St. Pete Beach, FL We flew into the St. Pete/Clearwater airport as opposed to Tampa Int'l. We like that more for many reasons. The airport we leave from is the closest to us, and we can fly non-stop both ways. Both airports are on the small side, therefore being much more relaxing. Our flight was 45 minutes late leaving, but arrived only 10 minutes late. What a feeling to walk down the stairs and onto the tarmac! Palm trees everywhere, and at 11:00 PM it's still in the upper 60's. He got our rental car while I got our bags. We liked the Dolphin Beach Resort so much last year, so that's where we stayed this year for our weekend on the Gulf this year. He asked for 1st floor availability, and luckily we got a 1st floor poolside room. Because it was after midnight by the time we were settled into our room, we ordered Domino's and just chilled in our room. I woke up suddenly about 7 that first morning feeling like something wasn't right. My body had rejected the Domino's in a big way, but I'll spare you the details. I called my mom, who is an RN, and she advised me how to handle what was happening. I kept in constant contact with her. My Honey was good about checking in on me and making sure I'd be okay while he was out on the beach. There's a grocery store right across the street, so he got supplies. Our hotel is on the beach, but I wasn't able to go far from my room. Honey seemed to have still been able to enjoy his day. I am thankful we had that room because I was able to enjoy the beautifully landscaped pool area (palm trees!) and sunshine, even while I was in bed. Here and there I could step out for a smoke. How cool is it that there was a blooming bird of paradise right next to my terrace! (Bird of Paradise was the main flower of my wedding.) Eventually I was able to enjoy the pool, then watched the sunset over the Gulf on the beach behind the hotel.
