We want to travel to see chichen itza while in cancun in november. Any particular day quieter than others and which tour is the best/fastest? Dont want to waste an entire day if I can help it!!!

Any info would be a great help,

    It is the entire day
most of it on a bus
but they say you should do it at least ounce
I hear they have reduced the accessibility to some spots to preserve them,
If your there for two weeks...or one..

Click on the "Cancun Tours" at the bottom of the page, it lists the tours and shows private tour prices. The private tours are actually reasonable esp. if you have 4 going. They will customize the trip to your liking. This would be best, in my opinion, vs. taking the bus tour.

Dont fancy wasting the day on a bus!! but really want to go so might do the private tour. Might cost more but could be worth it to get back in time for the party at Temptation!!

I went 2 years ago. We rented a car and took off at 5 in the morning. It is a hella long drive. We actually didnt make it to Chechen Itza. Rather we stopped at Coba. (an hour less drive and a much older histrorical Myan areaBigger pyramids too...) We walked the entire tour and went to Tulem the same day. After Tulem we stopped and swam in Dos Ojos Cenote and returned well before dinner. If you want to see something very impressive for a short day trip, just go to Tulem. It is beautiful. Besides it's hot as Hades at Coba And Chechen Itza. Tulem is MUCH closer and is on the beach. I'd say if you rent a car and go early, you could get your fill of Mayan culture and be back for lunch. Just my 2 cents.

It is a long long bus ride, usually 100 degrees on the bus and then 150 when you get out...not to be dramatic :).....It is an all day tour.....I personally didn't enjoy it but I know others have....I would never ever do it again, and do not feel that it is something you should do at least once.........I hope you enjoy it though!!!!

It is a day long tour. Most of it on the bus. About 2 hrs at the site. WE did it and Tulum and didnt see the value for money, other than to say "We did it"! A vast area is protected and off limits to preserve it. If asked to go to either place a second time, we would opt out. But if you want to say you have done it, then .... up to you!. Our daughter did when she was 12 and siag it wwas OK as it was part of the school trip. It was hot, over controlled and everyone slept the whole way home on the bus. AND... We missed out on a whole day at TTR. Not what we would say A MUST DO!!! Kev and Di. The Aussies

My worst ''trip'' was in Jam/negril went to Dunns River falls. Spent like 11 hours on a bus for a 1 hour walk up some beautiful falls.

If your there for 7 days I would say no, if your there for 10 t0 14 days you definitely have to get out some day to give your liver a rest.

It is an all day tour, but (coming from a couple getting advanced degrees in history) extremely worth it. To be that close and not go see amazing pyramids would be a loss.

We took a bus tour (which had the AC cracked to sub-zero temps - so be prepared). It included stopping at some shopping markets and at an old mission for lunch and cultural dance show. Those parts were a tad cheezy, but it broke up the day. The point is that it is about a 2 hour drive from Cancun. But if you were two hours from the pyramids in Egypt you would go, think of this like that. Plus you have all night to party. :)
