The hubby wanted an adult-only, alcohol-infused, party-like-we-did-when-we-were-single vacation for our 15th anniversary next year, and not surprisingly, TTR met all of those requirements. Our anniversary is not until April, but we can only take vacation Mardi GRAS week (2nd week in February). I have looked at booking vacation packages now, but I'm not sure that the prices are good. Will I save more the earlier I book? Do prices go up/down the closer you get? Should I hold off and try to book "last minute"? I think I have read every trip report for the past year and almost every thread that has been posted. We are so pumped and are ready to start packing now! Anyone else booked for February? Is that a good time of year to go? (although we don't have any other options). Thanks! Kindra
It actually think is kind of early to book. One time when I went to Temptation and I actually booked 3 weeks before my departure. I say you should book around October or November. Honestly I have never seen a fluctuation in prices whether you book a few weeks or a few months in advance. I went in February once. The weather might be a bit chilly for you guys, at least that how I felt it was. But otherwise you should not get any rain. People wise, any time of the year is great. I have been to Temptation in literately ever month and I have yet to find a month in which the people there were not great 1
If I were you I would book your trip before the 2nd week of August. As you get closer to your departure date, the more desirable flight times are taken and prices generally start an upward trend as you get closer to the day. Not saying you can't find a great ''last minute'' deal, but you are already locked into when you are going, so booking early usually gives you the best options. And always try to book on a Tuesday night.
Thanks for the responses. Just found out we may be able to do the week before Easter. I know it's spring break time, but the weather will be warmer. Would that be a better time of year?
Weather should be much more reliable in March than in mid-February, although there is a pretty loyal group of TTR'rs that go each February (mostly in the last week of the month). Weather can be rather dodgy in Cancun in January and February. I was in Cancun the first week of February this year with my son and got rained out the last three days. Also not all that warm in December thru February, in general. From what I have read here, TTR is not at all a spring break hotel, although you will find more young guys there in March than in some other months. Never fear: couples will be the majority, as they always are. Have fun!
We usually go in April w/ the fellow Addicts, so have been looking also. Way to early to book and as of today the cost for the same amount of time there w/ air of course, is almost $1400.00 more than last year. Hopefully it'll come down or they might be lacking a repeater!! :sauer005:
