A member PM'd me to ask for tips from a 1st timer that just got back:cry:. Figured I would share with everyone: Call if you are getting there late Saturday so they hopefully don't put you in another resort. bring insulated cups for the pool. reserve seats before 8am by the sexy pool. do not miss going to the restaurants. make your reservations before 8pm (7pm on thursday) so you can still go to shows. Make your resvations for dinner at 9:45 am. at 10am there is a mad rush of people and the line gets long. you can book 4 nights at once so i went twice and the first time I got there at 10 and there was a long line so I spent about an hour there. the next time I went at 9:45 and there was only 1 person being helped. not sure when they actually started taking the reservations but do not wait until 10. bring shoes (not sandals) and thin slacks to wear - i had black jeans but after being in sun all day, thin slacks were much more comfortable. try the carpaccio at the italian restaurant. don't be afraid to volunteer for games. loosen up your liver and take some tylenol and pepto. not sure if i got sun, food, or alchohol poisoning.....probably a combo. wear your colors. you wouldn't believe how many friends I made because I wore a penn st football t-shirt one day. lotsa folks from big 10 country got on my case for it but made for good natured ribbing the rest of the week. people are looking for an excuse to talk to you and have fun.
Appreciate the tips for first timers. Looks like I may have to break out the Hawkeye gear!!:daveandmo:
if you plan on having a room near paty o and you Desire to sleep prior to 3:00 a.m. then do not even think about getting any sleep unless you bring some ear plugs
Yes, wearing the black and gold is a great decision. Being a Steeler fan did open lots of conversation while we were there this year.
It is fun to wear your "colors". One time we walked into the sports bar with our Iowa Hawkeye shirts on. There were people with their Illinois shirts, Michigan and another with a Badger shirt on...I mentioned that we about represented the Big 10 that night. Sorry, did not see a Penn State shirt but it is Big 10! Go Big 10!:xyxthumbs:
