Just wondering what other do regarding tipping. These days we use Pesos rather than dollars but I know a lot use dollars. I figure it's probably easier for them to get their own currency..and why pay conversion costs twice..once by me and once by them. We always tip at the restaurants and usually at Paty'O's ( sometimes a big tip last a couple of nights...lol) . It's or miss whether we do at the buffet, particularly at lunch or breakfast. And we always leave something for the maid. Sometimes at the front desk if they have been really helpful with a room selection. Anyway, how much do you usually tip and where? The bars, restaurants, buffets, maids, front desk, entertainers? Breakfast, lunch & dinner?
First timers to Temptation but we will be taking Pesos, as you say why pay conversion costs ? As for the big tips at Paty O's, we have found by experience that big tips are best given at the start of the vacation. Guarantees top service for the rest of your break
I found a $5 dollar tip at first (every morning) poolside worked great. They usually had 2 or three waitrasses, just make sure you get the one serving your area for the day. I always got Suzanna, she never let me down, always had the warmest smile. If they bring you coffee or juice at the buffet a buck or two won't hurt. Try sitting at the same area every day . they do remember you. Hope you have a great trip and don't forget to go on the Boobs Cruise if there is one when your there.:lotsofmichaelfs:
Usually give some of the favorite bartenders a couple of $20.'s during our stay as well as U.S. $2.00 bills at bars and the restaurants. A large candy bar (Get them from Aldi's)( Austrian Chocolate - $1.29) every other day w/ tip. They seem to love the candy and the $2.00 bills!
Is there a swim up bar at TTR? I seem to think there is but can't remember off hand. If so how do you tip there? Can't exactly keep a wad of soaked bills in your pocket :icon_eek:
Yes...at both the sexy pool and quiet pool. The trick is to hold the tip above water when you first get in and head straight to the bar.. (Leave the rest of the money in your room... or my room if you like...lol)
And fortunately pesos are made out a plastic-y material. I just stick them in my pocket and don't worry too much about it. I've never had anybody refuse my tip at the swim-up bar because it was wet. They just aren't that uptight at all.
i always take 100 in 1.00 bills to tip all week long..from the baggage handler, maids, bartenders, and waiters and cooks....i take about 5.00 every day to the pool, they dont mind if they are wet from the pool...money is money!!! it goes along way....not manditory, but very appreciated!!!
I have never seen a bartender turn down wet US cash. Don't tip with US dollar coins as the Mexican banks won't take them. One of the bartenders asked if we would trade him for those when we were there last weekend. Ripped bills or any change won't work well either.
