In Jamaica at an all inclusive, we took the time, talked and got to know the bartenders when we first arrived. Not sure how many are at golden but while we got to know them and visa-versa we told them how long we would be there and tipped them up front for our stay. Can someone tell us how many we may be dealing with, do they like those in Jamaica tend to work all day into the night. Those guys in Jamaica worked 12-14 hrs a day. This place was packed and when they saw one of us coming they always made our drinks ahead of those already waiting. When questioned we just said we knew the bartender and we tipped him well. Anyone ever do this here before and how many bartenders are there???
There are at least 5 bars at the Golden if you count the one at the Snack Bar. Each one has a primary bartender. The bartenders usually work 6 days and get one off. The Tiki bar for instance has Fonzie during the day and Jose at night. They will know you after the first day and keep your drink full. Guillermo usually mans the Dolphin (beach) bar and Fermin was inside at the beer garden which is now the 60's bar. Some people tip up front, others tip as they go and some tip at the end of the week. Just beware if you wait until the end of the week that the bartender might be off on your last day so you'll miss him. They do appreciate the tips but provide great service either way.
Main bartenders: Fonzi (at tiki bar) in the morning, Jose at night. Dolphin Bar you have Moises. Karen and Marina are the pool and beach waitresses. At night you will get Carlos to help out Jose after 11pm but he's usually at the old barn serving before that. For buffet, you will have Gamil. Pier 12 restaurant, Lorenzo. Those are the people i go to and knows me. but also others too but i forgot and always takes care of me and my friends everytime we are there. honestly, for my 7nights stay there.... i can tell you ive given out $300-$350 worth of tips. (but i also work in the bar industry and i know how much they made PER DAY working there)
The way it usually starts.... from my experience.... at the tiki bar and "sixties bar" only... you start tipping with 20 bucks. first tip on arrival. After that I give like a dollar per drink or like 5 bucks a day. 2-4 a day for the maid keeps her happy. i give the servers at the restaurants one dollar for every time they come back to check on me, get my drink, take my order, bring my food, etc. If they notice my method and start taking advantage of me they get no more! If they take forever getting my drink they lose that one.... and if my food comes out before my appetizer they lose the appetizer tip too.
ahahah shut the hell up mikey! i didnt finish my trip report yet! lol. ahhh okay i will announce it! lol.
