Don't use the ATM at the hotel! I used it twice. It dispenses american dollars. The first time is said the fee would be 60 pesos which is steep but not too crazy. Well, the fee ended up being over $35 to withdraw $160 cash. Even the receipt only showed 60 pesos fee plus 9 pesos tax. I could probably fight it and get my money back but I've been told these ATM's at the resorts and stores are privately owned and it's very hard to dispute the charges. Only use the ATM's at the banks. :aktion060:

Uh Oh, Harold told me he was going to the bank and like a good friend I told him that there was one at the resort, I am not sure if he used it or not.

OK, heading to the Bank this weekend then and stocking up on 10's and 20's. Out of curiosity, what did you find at the resort to spend money on? I'm guessing cabs and excursions. Everything is covered, right?

Rob took us on a bunch of excursions, the private booze cruise was 35.00/head, I forget what Edith's cost, but it was well worth it. There was a trip into twon where Barb and I had Lobster and Steak, that one was only 40.00 US total. We ate across the road at MacDonald's twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. There was a couple trips to the Mega Store, you mentioned cab fees, and then there was tipping.

We did not get the massage, but from all accounts it was an excellent deal, 35.00 per person, Rob and them on their last day went to I think it was called zippers and watched the surfers and had a beer there.

The vendors on the beach, you probably don't want their jewellery, but if you lose your hat or sunglasses the have them available.

It all depends on what you want to do, as much or as little.

Rob, do you have the low-down on the massage? Is it Zippers? Amy and I plan on surfing every day we're down there and a massage would probably come is pretty handy!

Also, I heard someone mention that if you want certain drinks at certain bars/restaurants, you have to pay extra. Does that sound right?

if you are at the resort and facing the ocean - then take a right and walk down the beach approximately 200 yards or so and you will see the huts - its an hour long massage for 35.00 - highly suggest it

if you walk past the huts for another 35 to 45 minutes you will make it to the zippers break where they surf and there is also a little bar/grill there (if you plan on going in make sure you carry a shirt as they require it to enter)

the best way to get to zippers may just be to get a taxi - its pretty close and not that expensive

the only drinks that may be additional (that i know of) would be wine. one night while eating an asian jill ordered a bottle for the two of us and it did cost extra.

    ps
by the way since you guys live in the bay area be sure and check out the tapas at zarzuela on russian hill - fell into that place one night a few years back and loved it :)
