Well, they did it again, thanks in part to the pitching of Pablo Ortega. Los Tigres of Quintana Roo now lead 2-0 over Los Diablos Rojos of Mexico City in the series final for the championship of Mexican baseball. There's something to cheer about! Way to go, Tigres!
THIS IS THE BEST ZOOM I COULD GET FROM MY CELL. BUT THE 1-0 SAYS IT ALL. A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL, AT LEAST MY GROUP ANYWAY.
You got that right, Gonzo, its the final matchup for the entire season between the two best teams in all of Mexico. Our team, Los Tigres, is also part of the minor league in the U.S., and feeds players into the Oakland Athletics, as I understand it.
Gonzo, Pablo Ortega was 10-3 with a 3.29 ERA, clearly the best win loss record of the starters. Francisco Cordoba was the work horse but his record was only 7-9 with a high 4.78 ERA. I think I would rather have the ball in Cordoba's hand with it all on the line. He pitched a great game in the 8-2 win in the first game. They got him out to save him up when the game was pretty much in hand. If it goes 7 games he will get 3 starts. We have 7 guys with US Major League experience so most of these guys are probably on the way down, rather than on the way up. Two of our outfielders are great hitters, Sergio Contreras at .347 and Doug Clark at .315. Clark played in the majors. Both are 31. Looks like the pitching is key to winning. They are No. 1 in pitching and 3rd from last in hitting. Thats a nice site TJ, thanks. I have been watching the Little League World Series and that has been fun to watch. Some really good fielding. Mexico is in the international final on Saturday afternoon. They beat Venezuela yesterday afternoon 2-1 in 9 innings. Mexico homered in the top of the ninth and Venezuela went scoreless to end the game. Montana beat California 1-0 to get to the American final.
Third game in the championship, in Mexico City, got rained out. They play again tonight, 7 PM! Stay tuned! TIGRES DE QUINTANA ROO :: SITIO OFICIAL :: TEMPORADA 2010
I went to the Wings Army with my baseball playing buddy, Ruben, for some Tigres ball, average wings and a nice beer list. I had some Sam Adams Coastal Wheat. Nice. We were sad to see Cancelado on the screen. Ruben argues that Postponed and Cancelled mean totally different things and that they should say Postponed. Technically he is right AND Mexican. But you can't fight City Hall. V, are you sure it is 7 pm tonight? Last night the start time was to be 8 pm and tonight the same. Maybe they have moved it up to get it at least started in case the rains come. It really messes up even our schedules. ToriB was going to Game 1, but could not attend when it was Cancelled/Postponed to the next night. $150 please ToriB. Jajaja The final two games, if necessary, will be in Cancun, next Monday and Tuesday, provided the one in DF get played as now scheduled. The original schedule called for them to be here Saturday and Sunday, but with 2 (let's call them) postponements, they have moved away from the more convenient weekends. Plus, Gonzo, Mon-Fri games are at 8 pm, Saturdays at 7 pm and Sundays at 6 pm. V and I like Sat and Sun better, so we can get to La Taberna or home earlier, depending on which one of us you are talking to. Jajaja
