The Tigres de Cancun is our contribution to professional baseball, in Mexico. This year's season is well underway, and I highly recommend you give it a try by seeing one or more of their games. The stadium is very beautiful, right now. It looks like they've repainted, and perhaps replaced some or all of the seats: the grounds are immaculate, with the recent rains having benefited the grass, which is intensely green- overall, it is a beautiful scene in the powerful, night game lights. Best tickets in the house cost just 100 pesos, and it is a great family atmosphere: though a lot of beer gets drunk there, the crowd is very well behaved and respectful of the few foreigners who attend. It's a great place to take a family, as a result, for a summer's night out. _________________________ The Tigres won, last night, in a home run filled game, with frequent pitcher changes, 12-8! You forgot to mention the food, especially the Argentine sausage sandwiches. They tell you they're Bratwurst, but they're not. They are, however, absolutely wonderful. Certified heart attacks on a bun, but how many games a year can you go to? Eat your beans and sprouts during the off-season, exercise, get in shape and then chip away at all that health during the baseball season.
It is a veritable buffet of sorts. Mix beat me to the Sausage thing. These rock. First time I went to a game they were bringing us beers in 5 gallon (whatever) paint buckets with lots of ice and let us run a tab, thanks to Vic of Cancun Valet. There are too many food options to mention and many are from vendors walking through the stands. The killer sausages are a bit to the left after you enter through the turnstiles and you have to go get them. They also have some great tasting burritos, or quesadillas, I forget which, (I try to stick with the sausages) but they are not only tasty, but huge. I may go to a game next week if the Tigres are in town.
The best tasting things Thanks for the tip about the sausages, Mixz1, and, yes, I do occasionally eat something like that, just to remember how good things like that really are! T.J., you may be in luck: the Tigres are in town the 7th, 8th, and 9th, playing Campeche.
What are these sausage things called? We're going on Friday and my arteries are waaaay too clear. Our usual things are the Arrachera tacos. Different plate...same heart attack...
As you walk in after purchasing your tickets, walk left. They'll be on the left side of the corrider. Just look for them grilling. Remember, NOT on the field side, on the street side, but inside.
TJ, let me know what night you guys may go. I would love to tag along since I have never been. Plus I am missing my Phillies soooo much and need baseball fix asap!!
