Tonight's game (May 7) features a "women get in free" promotion in an effort to promote midweek attendance. Calendario 2015 | Tigres de Quintana Roo | 60 Años de Garra | Club de Baseball Tigres de Quintana Roo The Tigres, whose home is Cancun, are now in second place in the southern zone of the Mexican Baseball League. The Tigres are perennial contenders for the League Championship each year and probably will be this year, too, so get out and support the team when you can.
Still holding second place The Tigres played well last night, behind the pitching of Carlos Bustamante, and won 8-3 against the Aguilas de Veracruz. They play again tonight, this time with Pablo Ortega pitching. Promotions continue, tonight with 2 for 1 ticket prices.
Tigres looked good again last night and won 6-2. They did this both nights without much production of runs from their best and most consistent hitters. They could be awesome if they started firing on all cylinders. Promo last night turned out to be half price tickets. Great time to see a game if you can get out. It's also a good way to escape the heat, as there is always a nice breeze in the stadium.
Karim Garcia The Tigres seem to be stuck in second place in the southern zone of the Mexican Baseball league. They need one more hitter who is able to make things happen. Karim Garcia, right field, used to be that player but the new manager for the Tigres didn't agree, and traded him midseason this year. Karim Garcia has now played in 34 games with the Tabasco Olmecas and during that time has gotten 36 hits, with 8 base on balls, and 16 runs batted in. His batting average is .310. What a shame he didn't get a chance to play like that here, this season. A guy like that is a game changer.... His team will face the Tigres of Quintana Roo in Cancun on July 31- Aug 2, and he will be in action in estadio Beto Avila once again. The season is now drawing to an end. Don't miss your chance to enjoy this economical form of entertainment for the whole family.
With approximately 20 games left in the regular season the Tigres have now largely closed the gap with the first place team. They are now just 1.5 games out of a tie for first place in the southern zone.
Tuesday, tickets are 2X1; Wednesday, 1/2 price; Thursday, women get in free. Last time I went to a game on Thursday it seemed lots of women took advantage of the free tickets to bring all their friends. At half price, you can sit in some fine seats just behind the home team dugout for 60 pesos per ticket! Beer is 25 pesos per bottle....
Five wins in a row have now brought the Tigres to within a half game of southern zone leader Yucatan. The Tigres play tonight, at 6 PM, in the last of their three game series against the Tabasco Olmecas.
Yucatan stubbornly holds onto their half game lead in the southern zone but owing to recent victories the Tigres are not only assured a playoff spot they are assured of starting the playoffs at home. The last home games of the regular season will be next week.
Playoffs Tigres are in the playoffs and ticket sales will begin soon. Here are the two websites where further info will be published as it becomes available- The Official Site of The Mexican League | lmb.com.mx Homepage Tigres de Quintana Roo
Last home game of the season will be played tonight, 8 PM, with Ramon Ortiz, 7 wins and no losses, doing the honors.
