http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iXkVhrMW1rJYbG2aAm64zEUoI-RwD92DL7BG0 Let me begin by saying I had absolutely no idea who Joel Osteen or his wife were before the latest news story about his wife allegedly assaulting a flight attendant, but let's face it... they were flying first class to Vail when it occurred. Somebody is definitely making mad money. After hearing on the news that the flight attendant suffered from "hemorroidal issues" following this incident, I must say that I am hoping that she wins the lawsuit. Yet I do believe that 10% of Mrs. Osteen's income is a little over the top. But if you're gonna throw out that kind of personal laundry (see above), you should be entitled to a little something. Don't ya think? So is anybody with me? Who wants to start a huge church, do a little televangelism, write a few books, and make a large bankroll?
"Brown's lawsuit claims she lost her religious faith and suffers from hemorrhoids because of the anxiety and trauma resulting from the incident." hemorrhoids? lost her faith? wants 10% of Osteen's net worth?
23 years as a flight attendant and an alleged shove causes post traumatic stress and hemorrhoids?? Give me a break. Sounds like yet another case of someone playing the legal system lotto. I hope that she doesn’t get a dime. Anytime somebody wins or even gets a settlement in these frivolous lawsuits, the cost eventually is spread among all of us. Don’t get me wrong, I think that it absolutely disgusting that people enrich themselves while supposedly “spreading the gospel”. I feel that if you truly believe that you have been called to lead, then any monies made should be used to further the cause-not spent on material things. I do find it comical that she is asking for 10% of Osteen’s net worth. By definition, tithing is giving 10% of your income back to God as a reminder that all of what we got is from him in the first place. Drips of irony, don’t ya think? Marsh
10% is an odd request. Symbolism and irony at it's best. Every person has their own threshold but I am thinking it's going to take a lot more than a shove or an elbow to get me to lose my faith and/or inflame other pre-existing medical conditions. Especially one that know is going to be late night talk show fodder for days to come.
