Where do you go to get the best margaritas? And why, because of price? amount of booze? consistency (the same day-in-day-out)?
Las de Guanatos at bull ring. Surfin' Burrito, across from Sr Frogs. Viva Margarita, PDC, south end of 5th Ave. Going south, take a right at that little fountain, then about 20 yards on the left. Next to Starbucks.
Well, only the one by the bullring. They had a guy behind the bar who always wore a Texas cap. He could just make them consistently great. They seem to have it right again. Great Mojitos too. It's a nice place to sit outside, and people watch. All ages and multicultural. The music is often too loud at nights to talk. But for a Happy Hour time of day, that's the place for me. There is a short (really, everybody is short to me) with long hair and combat boots, Eric, and he is a great waiter. Been there for years. I guess the bottom line is the person mixing the ingredients. Tex took pride in his work.
@Davisod - I seem to recall that you live in Puerto Morelos. My favorite here in PM is El Pesquero - on Rafael Melgar (street closest to the beach), 1/2 block North of the zocalo and the lighthouse. Willy makes a traditional margarita - tart and STRONG. 2 x 1 on Friday, so two for 60 pesos. I am a very "experienced" drinker, and I often stumble home on Fridays having dropped 120+tip. They also provide a nice spread of free botanas, often enough to make a meal.
Nope, their 2x1 is legit. I know exactly what you mean - some places even use significantly smaller glasses when they offer 2x1. I have never noticed any difference between their full-price margaritas and the Friday 2x1. Let me know when you're coming and I'll come say hello - I live across the street!
