Hey Lenni & Jodie! It was changed over to a Desire resort in May of 2012. I was there when it was Temptation Resort in 2011, and it's a much smaller resort and not nearly as much of a party place. More of a romantic couples' holiday. I have seen a few people post here that they have been there since the changeover, so hopefully they will help you out.
We went when it was Temptation but it has since switched back to Desire. Much smaller size wise, but beautiful setting. Loved our walks on the beach. Definitely a different vibe, much calmer during the day around the pool, but all of that is moot since it is now Desire. Now clothing optional with upgraded amenities from what I understand. I would say party wise it will depend on the groups going during your stay.
Thinking can the place handle us without getting our wrist bands cut off and quickly kicked out by security. Too cold here at the moment, me needs more Mexico immediately, who can wait another 365 days?
Our Temptation Cabo trip review sounds about like Chris n Allison's. The beach area is awesome, but the daytime activities are really calm. Zero party atmosphere around the pool. The resort is very small, and only one dinner option when we were there. We did like the evening bar (forgot what it is called). The rooftop jacuzzi is awesome, but can be hit or miss depending on the crowd. Maybe I am naive, but I really doubt if the atmosphere has changed a lot since it went back to Desire. Just some Oscars around the pool.
It is now Desire and way more expensive. We were there when it was Temptations and it was our first visit to MX plus our first adult resort. It is small and very nice but Cancun is so much more exciting (and we learned that from just a day pass in Cancun last year). As for the area, Cabo will spoil you compared to Cancun. We are sad we won't be back to Cabo any time soon.
Apples and Oranges ,their Both great, and each one has its pros and cons In addition to the above comments me observations were Cancun is a lot more commercialized and activities cost more $$. More to do, night clubs. Cabo more like real Mexico, a lot more relaxing and spectacular scenery and dessert in short distance, good fishing 4 wheeling in the dessert was awesome .The smaller resort give it more of an intimate feel ,but that can be a minus with the wrong people. Cabo is a good place to go in Oct/Nov to avoid the hurricanes. It is too cool in Dec /Jan for my tastes.
