Hello all! I am scheduled to arrive on Friday, Jan 22 at 12:49 pm. Anyone know how much a taxi will cost to TTR? I am on my own and don't want to spent an hour on a shuttle bus. If anyone is ariving about the same time let me know and we can share a cab. Suggestions....? John

Unless things have changed, I don't think regular taxis can take someone from the airport to their hotel. I think there might be an "official" taxi service at the airport, but it is quite a bit higher since they have a monopoly.

Since I don't want to wait for a shared van to fill up and then drop everyone else off, I usually get a one-way private transfer, even when traveling alone. Although most people get the round-trip, I like the flexibility of taking a taxi back to the airport. I've seen unreasonably early pickup times as well as no-shows. Taking a taxi back is about the same price and on my schedule.

On trips that I wanted to pickup LOTS of stuff at Walmart, Sams, and/or the liquor stores (like 18 3-liter bottles on one trip), I've picked up a rental car from Avis for one day and returned it near the nightclubs. Even with the insurance, I've sometimes gotten the car for the same price as the one-way transfer. It does take longer because of the hassle at the airport (they are slow), but when running a lot of errands, it was handy to have a car for a day.

Yeah you have to take a transfer from the airport but your allowed to return by taxi. Once threw security you'll be bombarded with people offering transportation. I normally just wait until I get there to purchase as the price is relatively the same as per booking. One way transfer is 17 per person and TTR is one of the last stops. Rental is 40 a day private trans is 50. It cost us 25 for a return taxi from TTR. Most rides in town we're 10-12 for a taxi each way. I would purchase a rental if you plan on any travel ie PDC tulum. Or the collectivo for around a dollar.
