Can anyone shed some light on the approximate price a taxi is from downtown, (La Luna, near Gran Plaza), to the airport would be. I have loads of quotes, and most don't do shared service around 5 am, and the private service, at $35 USD for one way is outrageous. I do have two quotes roughly around 250 pesos, and was curious what a taxi would run.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

You could always go to the bus Station downtown cancun where they do a run every hour.

    Taxi fare to airport

Stop one on the street, and ask them if they can take you to the airport for 150 pesos.

Few will refuse you as most think that's a pretty good deal (out of a dozen, we've had one ask for 180 pesos). Locals tell us we should be paying 100 pesos!

I believe the official price for a regular taxi you grab on the street is $170 pesos. That's what I was told once about 2 months ago by a taxi driver.

The price used to be $100 or $120 like V said, but in the past year I haven't been able to get that price anymore.

However, I've gotten them down to $150 recently.

Anything over $200 is way too much, unless it's a RadioTaxi.

If you think they're charging you too much, you can always ask to see their rates chart (every taxi driver should have one in their glove compartment.)

I've never had a problem getting a cab to the airport just by standing on a street corner with my suitcase. Occasionally some of them might say it's out of their way, but most are glad to take you (probably because of the higher price).

Keep it mind if it's 5 am you might have to wait a bit longer before a taxi drives by.

    150, 200 if they smell gringa. ;-)

Take the 20 peso taxi to ADO then take the airport bus (I think it's 37 pesos but it might have gone up).

I would have done the bus route, to be cheap, but I would have to leave my house around 3:30 am, as I am not very close to it. And it leaves like every 30 min, so I think this time I will pay for the shuttle since the flight is at the crack of dawn and next time plan my time a little more realistic. Plus I think a taxi would piss me off too early in the morning.

    Thanks ya'll for the advice!!

    Ordering a taxi

You may have already left, Tori, so this info may be too late, but even if you called and ordered a taxi the fare would only be 170 pesos, fixed fare (as of the last time I did that: from the city, not from the HZ), and they would come to your door.

Dial 840-0651 to check on current prices, or to order a taxi.
