Should we pre- book a private shuttle/ride before or trip or just get a taxi when we get off plane? Going from airport to Desire Resort. And if doing taxi, what’s the usual price for one way? Thanks in advance!
Real taxis are prohibited to provide rides from the airport. I would book a private transfer. The owner of this website receives a small amount of the shuttle fee if you use USA Transfers and book the ride here. They are reasonable and reliable.
We have used Canada Transfers for years. They offer a private van with $2 beers and water, and cool wet hand towels to cool off. They are always on time and very professional. We used them about a year ago for a pickup from Desire to another hotel at 2 am. They were right on time and we felt very safe using them. Too bad we will miss you guys. We are going to be at Desire May 16-21st this year.
We've always used the shuttle services as it's arranged in advance, paid in advance, and there's no last-second negotiations with someone running a scam. That does still happen sometimes with a cab.
USA Transfers no question - if you arrive at the Cancun Airport and walk out you could get one of their faux taxis(basically just a shuttle company that has the airport concession - real taxis are not allowed to pick up at the airport) they will charge you about the same price for one way to Desire than what USA Transfers charges for the complete round trip - just book in advance with them
