Well I have a sensitive tum tum so my wife and I got a script and are taking this MED, that is supposed to help prevent Traveller's Diarrhea, and we sure hope its worth it cause it tastes like crap! (yuk)

Anyone else out there familiar with this product? and how well it works?

We are not that big on Travel and its our first real trip to Mexico.. so we thought better safe then sorry!

(We also got all our HepB Shots a while back as well)

Actually, what really causes "turista" aka "montezuma's revenge" isn't so much the water or food or odd bacteria or whatever, but days on end of excess eating, drinking and having fun. Seriously.

I've been to Mexico closing in on 50 times in the last 20 years - the majority for business. I've never taken any precautionary meds on business trips and have never had an issue, and I've been in some reasonably dodgy places.

Go to Cancun or Cabo or Acapulco however for a week of eating, drinking and general over-indulgence, and by day 3, I've got a reasonably bad case of the trots.

I've found on vacation that rather than any prescriptions or anything else, I just chew two pepto bismol tablets once a day - normally in the morning. The mild bismuth medication soothes the gut, and the anti-diahrreal agent slows things down just enough to keep things "normal".

No need for Dukoral. That said, bring Immodium in case you do get the "revenge".

But, it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

It never effects me but the wife got it this trip. IMO it was the food and drinks. If its a big change for you then it may happen. i eat and drink quite a bit so i dont see a difference

HepB shot? Is that required to travel there or just a precaution?
