We had been debating on returning to TTR or going back to our old standby (Breezes Grand Negril) for our April 13 trip. Just heard from one of th employees at BGN that the sellout was announced "offically" in an employee meeting a couple of days ago. The new owners are a Canadian group called Blue Diamond. They also brought Breezes Trelawny last year and promptly closed it for a complete makeover. Offical takeover date is either April or May 1, since Blue Diamond is a "family type" resort operator, there will be no CO (clothing optional) beach/pool after April 15. Employee morale will be at an all time low also. This definetly reduces the list of "affordable" adult type resorts in the Carribean. Hedo II is right across the driveway from BGN, but we found out that we aren't Hedonists !!!! Day passes were just fine, however !! BGNs main beach was really the best in Jamaica or most other places. Of course Couples Negril has a nude section of beach adjacent to BGN, so I can imagine the folks visiting the new resort will get an "eyefull" We just purchased a lot of bikini bottoms and shoes with non skid soles, so I guess we made the right decision in returning to TTR !!!
We also found out that my wifes insurance would have paid for everything. Now her Insurance company is wanting more info on where she fell so they can take legal action to recover the $$$ involved with the Orthopedic group in Atlanta. Good Luck !!! Our Lawyer told us it was SOP!!!
We had also tried one of the Superclubs in Jamaica. For us it was Grand Lido Braco. Nice resort but getting to be more than a little run down. The service was pretty bad there. Shortly after we were there the resort closed down as Superclubs had lost their lease. TTR is a much more fun atmosphere than Grand Lido was, so yes, you made the right choice.
Twinimini:You are 100% correct. Much more of a "fun factor" at TTR. Dec of 2011 there was a couple at BGN that were at Braco and told us how bad it had become since Superclubs had taken over from Grand Lido. Nightlife was just totally dead at BGN. I think Breezes Runaway Bay was much better and it was free admission over to the old Hedo III. I suppose Superclubs is down to just one resort in the Carribean now. (Bahamas)
We stayed at Couples Negril and Hedo II last summer.. Couples does have a nude beach that pretty much no one used and the resort is really nice however way to laid back for us, we were just bored there. The food was great though and rooms really nice if that's what you're looking for.. I got some weird looks from people in some of the bikinis I wore which were all full coverage there lol.. We then split the trip and went over to Hedo.. I was scared out of my mind when we first got there had to stop and get a few drinks before going over to the nude pool lol.. We had a lot of fun there, and they have a naked waterslide which Tony loved, but it was a lot to take in.. also food was not so great ( a lot of mystery meat) and the rooms are terrible.. but I guess you're not paying to go to a resort like that for the food or rooms lol The entertainment was WAY better then Couples and the party went on all night long! Overall we decided we're more Temptations people.. way cheaper for us then Jamaica and we always have a great time in Cancun.. Also the fully nude thing was hard for me to get use to..
Superclubs has also sold Hedo II to an investment group, they are promising to keep things the same, but make a lot of improvements to the resort. A lot of Hedo's regulars are so loyal to the place, that they would still pay $$$ to visit even if they had to sleep in Pup tents, eat hot dogs each meal and use an outhouse. My wife didn't care for the total nudity either. Of course Couples Negril Nude area is right out in the open on a public beach. Not enough Red Stripe in Jamaica to get her to go naked there !!!
We have been to Temptations twice and hoping to get back there this Spring but we tried Hedo a few weeks ago and its alot of fun. We still love Temptations but we will probably end up going back to Hedo again also. It is a little more expensive but the fun in the nude pool and the hot tub is well worth it!
