Does anyone have info on a good snorkeling spot. Are there any areas accessible from shore? I did hear of Puerto Morelos but it would mean a bit of travel if I am correct. Thanks Deb
Garrafon de Castilla on Isla Mujeres is brilliant. Check it out on trip advisor. You can get a ferry 5 mins from the resort just turn left outside TTR. Puerto M was ok but bit of a trek. You need to get a bus from TTR then a coach from bus station @ centro, then a 2-mile walk or taxi to the shore at Puerto Morelos. You'll need your own gear @ puerto - the hire places will only rent if you take a boat out, at Garrafon you can rent for the shore. Also, way more fish at Garrafon. You'll need to hire a golf cart for Garrafon or taxi once on Isla Mujeres, just make sure they take you to Garrafon de Castilla not the expensive reef park next door. About $2 for taxi and $5 entrance fee. We had an amazing day at Castilla. They also sell fish food and rent lockers for your dry clothes.
