Anyone know where I can purchase a mat similar to this in Cancun?

Straw Beach Mat from Windy City Novelties

I will be there in a couple of weeks and if anyone has any leads for me that would be great. I would rather spend more time on the beach and less time shopping for these.

I know downtown Cancun fairly well so any address would be great.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan

I don't know the name of the place, but there is a big fabric store, in a mall on the east side of Tulum, just north of the McDonalds, I'd say take a picture along and ask in there if they know......looks like a good idea for the beach, something you can leave behind....too bad they roll up, and not fold up, for packing!

I know exactly what you mean, but I can't say I've ever seen them on sale or in use here. It's possibly because all hotels provide loungers on the beach.

I have seen them in Servi Star at Gran Plaza but many things there are closeouts.

Why not just order 1 or 2 online. That site says they ship in 1-2 business days. You can roll them up and bring as carry on if you don't have a giant suitcase.

BUT they are roughly the size of a good quality bath towel and SMALLER than beach towels provided by the better hotels. When I was a tourist I have checked out a beach towel at the pool area then taken it to Xel Ha or wherever. Don't fret over a $3 or $4 mat. Ja ja.

I may just order one, although I am in Canada and things often get stuck for weeks at the border. I prefer the mats to a beach towel.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

    Straw mats

I saw those displayed, and ordered 4 on Saturday...they arrived today. They come packaged flat! Size folded is 15 inches,by 9 1/2 inches, by 5/8 inch, will fit flat in the suitcase so problem!:liebe011:

I have some now too. I think they will work great. Now if I could just make that forecast look a little nicer. I will be in Cancun next week.

I looked at the forecast and it looks normal to me. It is going to be in the mid 80's. I would not worry about those forecasted showers, most of the time they never happen and if they do they last a few minutes. I remember a couple of years ago I watched the forecast every day and it changed everyday and rain was forecasted everyday and it never rained once..I don't even look anymore.

Although they are not floral, they had straw beach mats at the Walmart in Cancun yesterday.
