Ok it's October so I prob won't be getting my tan on in the backyard by the pool (well you never know in Texas) so I was considering my not being the whitest girl at Temptation options. I really hate tanning beds, but it's for the reason of I had my 1st panic attack in one and never did it again. I know there are new beds that help you not feel trapped so it might be an option. But was wanting to know about spray tans. Have read reviews that say they have no probs with water and it just slightly fades. Others say it's awful and they go streaky when they get wet and stuff. More reviews negative. So if you have done it before TTR did you have any issues?

I actually asked the girl at the place I tan about that. She told me if you do not stay hydrated and are in sand, then your spray tan will start flaking. While at TTR, it is very difficult to stay hydrated (waaaay toooo much alcohol) and although I spend most of my days at the sexy pool, there are occasions where I find myself at the beach. I did not want to risk this, so I used the beds.

Since my wife only reads and never posts, I'll have to suffice. First, I am fairly dark complexioned and tan easily. With that said, I have been able to hang out in our pool here in the Houston area through last weekend. The sun I get, because of the angle in the sky, is negligible so you're right, not much sun to be had.

My wife has done two of three spray tannings with Darque Tan. Her third will be tomorrow and we leave on Friday. She's pleased. She also did the pre- and post-treatments as well. No idea what those are. The longer she waits before showering, the longer and dark the tan. Yes, it wears off after 3-5 days but once you're at TTR, you're in the sun anyway. She says she's darker than she could ever get with tanning. Also, skin cancer is an issue for her so spraying is better.

    Hope that helps.

I'm just so nervous about the spray. And I'm sure a week maybe of sunbed won't be too bad. Don't have to start anything for 3 weeks anyways since we are about 5 weeks away.

My sister in law used to spray tan, and it always looked pretty good to me. When it comes to her appearance, she spares no expense. So I imagine she goes to a very high-end place, and probably does whatever Ken was saying with pre/post treatments. The thing about this though is you’re not really tan, so you would still have to bother with lotion during the trip. I did 2 sessions of the stand-up high intensity booths before my trip. This was all the base I needed, then I didn’t have the bother with sun block the whole week, and was not worried about getting burnt.

On the other hand, I have seen LOTS of spray tans that look like a spray tan and kind of gross. They look weird at first, then normal for a few days, then it starts to get weird again. Now I don’t know if these people just go to a crappy place, but basically they look unnatural and you can see all the weird looks these people get.

It just seems to me like there is more risk, and you could potentially get a bad spray tan, then hate the way you look all week. I think it is better to eliminate that risk, and either just deal with looking pale and use sunscreen, or tough your way through the tanning booth. I don’t think it is a great idea to do something for the first time right before a vacation without testing it out first.

I am a spray tan regular but also very fair skinned. I usually spray tan but from experience have learned that it does not hold well at all if you decide to apply sunblock. It actually streaks. They recommend using non oil based sunblock to prevent that but it still steaked/faded on me. I actually started using the tanning bed last week so I can try to get a little bit of color. I am not having much luck though. I've burned from just doing 4-5 min sessions and have had severe itching from it. I plan on spray tanning before I go and will just scrub it off with a loofah once it streaks. #whitegirlproblems haha But I'm sure that I won't be the only pasty one. Hehe

I have had really bad luck with spray tans. I go to a good place and it still turns me orange and with being in the water it fades in blotches. I start tanning about 5 weeks before leaving, in a 10-12 minute bed starting slow about maybe 6 min first day, if no pink the next day go up to 7 and so on. I do not buy those outrageous lotions I moisturize with 100% coconut oil everyday. I feel the key to getting a fabulous tan is all about the moisturized....B

    yes moisturizing is important ,
I usually use the Australian Gold Oils,( doubles as a moisturizer )
, they have a tint in them to accelerate your tan.
