    Hi All-

My first ever vacation will be at Temptations in October...and boy, am I looking forward to just 'not giving a sh*t'!!

I've been pre-tanning (mostly because my life is controlled by work and kids and I go tanning to make it seem as if I have a life! Hahaha) Not really sure if I'll have the guts to go topless...guess that will depend on the alcohol intake :)

Anyway...I've never used sunblock (yeah I know I know, it's bad)...BUT I'm from New Jersey...so the sun is way differen then in Mexico.

So what is the average SPF you guys tend to bring?? I don't want to ruin a great time by getting crispy...but I still want to return home looking as if I went on vacation!

Hey! Check out the thread under Golden Parnassus titled 'Tanning'.. there is some really good info in there.

ToriB can help you out with sun care products.

In Mexico, or down south, I used to wear an SPF 60 and Matt an SPF 30, and no matter what I burn. Even after reapplying ever hour or more.

I'm going to give ToriB's products and advice a shot in October.

We wear spf 30 everyday and still come back with a great tan. Fake and baking is a must before we go. 2 weeks before we head down we hit the beds 3 times a week.
As far as "setting the puppies free" if you want to, do it, if you dont keep the top on. No one will really care either way.

Thanks for the reply...it seems 25-30 is the standard...and yes, I'll be sure to hit the beds before my trip in Oct.

2nd these points. We "pre-baked" and had SPF 50. Still had a nice tan when we got back.

Right before our first trip, the FDA released a big sunscreen report, and I ran out and bought the Target brand SPF 30 since it was the cheapest with high ratings (Banana Boat Sport SPF 30 was one of the others.)

My girls had NEVER seen sun, no pretanning, nada, and they didn't burn with that stuff. I'm very fair and burn easily, so I was really impressed (and no, I don't work for Target, promise!)

PS: what are your dates? I'm coming back Oct. 7-10

I ''pre bake'' a bit thern use a spf 8 oil for the first two days then switch to a spf 4 oil, then when I get a good base I just use the suntan oil , you look slick but I never peel when I use the oil.
It all depends on your skin. I'm out here sunrise to sunset and never have have a problem.
