Clubs are $50 average to get in, add in $10 tips, $10 for a taxi home so $70 (£40) per night out. Then just multiply up by how many times you think you'll go out.

AI state that the "tip" is included, but it is customary to tip the staff regardless. September and October are usually the slowest months, and this time around it is expected to be lower than usual.

If you enjoy doing lots of drinking at clubs, you might stay away from the open bar fees (I know it sounds odd). Not sure how big your group is, but for serious drinking you might consider buying bottles. You usually arrange the price for this at the door before going into the club, and usually they waive cover charges if you do purchase a bottle. Don't be afraid to haggle for a better price for your bottles.

If you do go with the regular "open bar" cover, you will probably end up having to tip more than $10 per person to keep the drinks coming, or do lots of flirting with a waiter or a bar tender.

If you don't do much drinking, then you can pay the regular cover fee. This fee is not really advertised, but it is usually between $20 to $30. Be aware that drinks inside are expensive, even bottled water or "sodas".

Eating 2 weeks at the resort might get a bit bland. If you eat in the hotel zone, plan to spend between 15 to $20 USD for a full mean. If you venture out of the hotel zone you can eat great, and spend less than $10 USD per meal.

For transportation, inside the hotel zone you can use the bus which costs 7.5 pesos. If you want to venture out of the hotel zone, take a bus until you are out of the hotel zone, then get off and flag a Taxi. You can pretty much go anywhere in Cancun downtown for 20 pesos for up to 4. people. To get back into he hotel zone, have the taxi drop you off by the chedraui on Tulum Ave. (If they drop you closer to the hotel zone you won't find a bus stop)

there is only 2 of us and while we are big drinkers we will be making the most of the all inc bar before we go out most of the time
as for food i'm not too fussy about where I eat as im quite a fussy eater and prefare buffet places so i can just pick at bits, i dont tend to eat much on hol either

I think we are taking about £700 which is roughly $1200 so hopefully that will be plenty

It seems that you will have enough "mula" specially since you said you plan to spend most of your time at the resort. You also seem to be very pleasant looking to the eyes, so if you get to the clubs somewhat blitzed already, pay the regular (non open bar) cover charge, I am sure you will meet guys inside willing to buy you drinks.

By the way, if you do accept someone to buy you a drink, either walk with him to the bar for him to order it (so you can see that it is 100% safe). Or be with the guy when the waiter hands him the drinks. Basically you want to see the drink go from the bar tender or waiter straight to your hands to make sure no one will slip anything into your drink. Bar tenders or waiters will never put anything on anyone's drinks.

There aren't many buffets outside the hotel zone.
