Need some minor parts, such as the light-bulb holder(haha, probably not the correct English term!) for the back. Went to VW on Sayil and dont feel like paying 4500(!!) pesos for a plastic part... Have been told to check on Portillo and Talleres, but thought I´d ask if anyone has a specific one to recommend. Thanks.
The thing is that VW-Parts are dirty cheap here.. Compared to Mexico. Even with shipping them its still a bargain (unless its part of the body or a whole engine) If you want i can do a price-hunt for you :-D
Nic: Thanks man! I have to find out the product number and such first. Its for a Pointer(made in Brazil??) and the VW dealer here in CUN has crazy prices, even for being a proper dealer. Ive seen these spare parts in Portillo, but cant remember where. Its basically the plastic piece that holds the light-bulbs in the rear. At the dealer they wanted almost 4500 pesos.. each! I didnt even get mad, I just started laughing Looks like this, except for a Pointer, not Golf: http://c1552172.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/70951_x600.jpg (The one in the link is around $US38... Compared to 4500(pesos), haha)
Are there not any scrapyards here where you can wander round and buy bits and pieces like that for pennies?
Prices at dealers are always ridiculous. My Hyundai back in the US needs two plastic hub caps...$85 each...for plastic. My Dad got them on Ebay for $30 each. Look it up there and find someone coming down and see if they don't mind brining it. I have done that a few times for things
Steve: Thanks for the advice. The problem is that the parts that are in it now, seem to be from scrapyards, haha. Tori: Yeah, they are expensive as h*ll, but this is WAY worse than I could ever have guessed, haha. Thats a good idea. Have to check when someone is about to fly down. Kind of have to fix it asap as I dont need more incentives for the little piglets to pull me over... Heading over to Portillo and Talleres tomorrow, just to scout around a bit.
So i contacted a couple of part-dealers of here.. Rawkus, the Pointer is only sold in Latin America (and Russia), there is no way to get any parts here. Sorry, Buddy
Nic: Damn, thats what I suspected. Thanks heaps for asking around and offering to bring stuff - much appreciated!
