So everyone tells me that this region of Mexico is a great place to buy silver CHEAP. Last time I went to TTR my only slightly drunk self ventured out to buy a few souvineers. I bought a "silver" chain which I liked but turned out to be plated junk (I must admit it was a convincing fake with the proper stamping). I knew I was in the wrong place because I was still in the main tourist strip but I thought I was probably just paying a little more. I plan on going back in the fall and would like to try again to buy some silver. Any tips on where to shop? I want to find some of this stuff cheap but I don't know Cancun and want to avoid being in a terribly dangerous situation. I'm not so nieve as to think anywhere is completely safe but if someone knows a little local info I'd appreciate it.
