Just incase anyone hasnt seen this yet..but SouthWest Airlines has added cancun to their flights starting in september. Just a heads up for anyone who has a ton of southwest miles ( like us). We might add a few nights to our stay now since we wont have to sweat airfare for our trip in the fall.
I know this is crazy early, but we just booked our October air via SW and saved over $300 plus we get 2 free checked bags! AWESOME! Thanks for the scoop!!
I just tried booking a flight with SW for August but was directed to Airtran.com instead. Also, they are at least $200 more expensive than UA for a return from Buffalo.
Do you say this because SW is bad or because Captain D. fly's for Frontier? I don't have a lot of SW flight experience.
SW and AirTran are partners... That's why it redirects you... Its very hit or miss.. Depends on the airport, and sometimes the day...
We flew down there the end of April and back the first part of May. We booked SouthWest but flew AirTran as SW bought AitTran as I understood it. As I understand it the full transition will take place later this year.
When I booked, the only direct flights through November were out of Baltimore, Chicago Atlanta, and I think it was Austin. Any other cities had to connect through one of these. They are just getting started so sure to be better as time goes on. We couldn't get there from KC before 3:30 something in the afternoon so with a little research booked to Orlando on SW the night before for only 7000 points and got a JetBlue flight to Cancun for 150.00 that arrives at 8:30am. Return flight all SW through Atlanta had good times and 17000 points. Hoping by January they have a nonstop out of KC to compete with Frontier with early arrival times. May be coincidence but every time we have got to the hotel before noon, we have always got one of the rooms we requested and never got the boot.
