Did you you know that not everyone from the Uk is from England? Unlike America where the states we come from doesn't matter, many in the UK are proud of where they come from. Anyone from Wales will quickly correct you if you say they are from England. Northern and Southern Ireland is something like a big deal. Take the time to learn where they are from so when you introduce them new friends you don't offend them. I know exactly what part my friends are from, lol.
ha ha ha excellent post there Mike - we are not from England, so no we are not English...we are Welsh. We may be a small part of the UK but very proud of where we are from. The Irish, Scottish and the English will all say the same. Can you imagine calling an American a Canadian or vice versa ..... lol same "rules" apply to us lmao xxx Lynfa xxx
Yep, I knew that! Hopefully we'll meet new friends from all over the world. That's one of the very best things about vacation!
in the US we use the mason-dixon line to determine us or yankee !!!! ha ha mostly we think of the state we are from.
Think your missing the point of the post dave and ellie. We too have counties and cities as do most, and we do mind if people say we're from a different part of Wales than we actually are, but we do get offended if we're called English the same as a lot of Americans get offended if they are called Canadians. We know which of our friends at TTR are from America and which are from Canada but god knows where in those two countries they live. We know a few live in Dallas as we are going to visit them in October and a few live in New York and Cape Cod etc.
I hear ya... I always tried to make sure I knew the difference between Welsh, Scottish and the rest. But a couple of years ago I called and Englishman Britsh........... won't make that mistake again *L*
We don't mind being called Scottish or Irish as we are all Celtic nations but we can't be called English pmsl
